So the question is can the DTA be adapted to .223 or more like .223ai by SAC?? I'm sure they could make the barrel but can a bolt be found? Or mags? It would make the platform much more attractive to me if possible.

We are currently working on a complete conversion. We are shooting for mid July or so to have completed conversions.

This DTA 223/300BLK conversion has taken a lot of R&D and still requires a lot. The number one hold up has been trying to get places to machine up parts. Seems like everyone is dragging there feet. This year Mark has really put the hammer down on this project and made it top priority. In the past two months more progress has been made then in the last two years combined. We want this to happen more than anyone. Its getting closer everyday! stay tuned

We are hoping to have the price around the same as a standard conversion kit. I need to figure out how much these parts are going to be costing us to make, the most expensive part is going to be the magazine. We would all want a 10-15 round double stack magazine, but that may not be possible. We are shooting for a solid 10 round single stack magazine. The biggest problem is making a magazine that fits into the existing DTA magazine well. If the chassis would have a square magazine box, we would be golden, but that's just not the case.

I have printed prototypes in my hands, I'm just tweaking the design to allow correct function. I am also currently working out pricing with the company who will be manufacturing these for me to determine pricing, time lines and such. It is taking a while to get everything lined up, but the goal is to get these on the market at an affordable price and not run into design problems later on.

Hell... May as well make a .22lr conversion too. I think there's a reason why .223 isn't offered by DTA. It's a pussy round!!!!! Ya ya ya... It's so cheap to shoot though. Well so is an air rifle. I understand there's a huge market for it and I mean no disrespect to you guys at short action. We all need to make a buck nowadays.

Do you ever suppose it might be a form factor concept? Show me another factory sold 223 bolt rifle in a bullpup format. Maybe I want to hunt with it? I surely don't need a 308 to shoot woodchucks, prairie dogs, yotes, etc. Could it make them just as dead? Sure but so would grand dads 30-06. Why deal with the recoil, cost, ricochet (lack of varmint bullet) etc of a larger round? Your Ferrari to get groceries, plenty of guys have equal amounts wrapped up in a small caliber varmint gun. Why not shoot on the same platform as your comp gun if you can?

Of course not to the nightvision. Scope eh maybe. Woodchucks are a bit different than pdogs as for me at least it involves more walking but for pdogs who cares if you have a 60lb rifle if you drive to your spot, set up and sit most of the day making pink mist.
Just offering a reason for why one might want one. Doesn't mean you have to agree with it. I would actually like a lighter weight version in 204 but short of making it myself that's not likely to happen any time soon. 204 benefits from a longer barrel quite a bit. That barrel length could be offset by the DTA layout. Same with using a suppressor which we are in fact allowed to hunt with here in PA.
We have hundreds of calibers and Wildcats most of which could be easily replaced with something else. All about personal preference. DTA is trying to fill another niche and I think its great.

You know, as a comsumer I do feel for you but as a dedicated NFA dealer (In the Obama Era) and a NFA manufacturing company owner I think airing out problems in a public forum is an unwise avenue to fix the problem. If you are that unhappy with DTA then you should request your money back and cut your losses with the company. The suppressor forums will be quick to tell you that the DTA can is not the end all/be all can and the only can that will ever sound good on your DTA.
Bitching about DTA on the #1 public sniper forum over and over isn't going to help your cause. It will probably do the opposite.
Sound isn't my main concern with the can. Accuracy is, and if I'm not mistaken, the DTA is the undisputed king on its own platform. I doubt I ever fire a suppressed round out of a rifle more than a .22lr. I ain't bitching. I ain't canceling my order. I'm well over $8000 invested in the company. I'm just a little upset at the moment. I don't like to be told lies... Been there done that with Nighthawk Customs and I now own 6 of their 1911. I just wish people were straight up with their customers, and not tell them what they want to here to make a sale.
