While I have never held either, I am trying to decide between this stock and the A2 Sporter for a hunting rifle build in 300 win mag. It will be used mostly for whitetail deer hunting out of deer stands with larger game like elk and brown bear down the road.

I have an adjustable HTG stock on my 300WM and love it. I'm not sure of the fill on mine but it has to weigh about 3-4 pounds. I like the added weight though because I (my friends) don't like hunting with the muzzle brake on it. You should be able to specify the fill when you buy it to tailor it to your needs.

I have one and love it
I have two more on order
It does have a slender fore arm if that matters to you
So far its my favorite stock for carrying while hunting

Here it is beside a Rem Hunter

It is rifle on the left with a #4 Krieger

Hope this helps

Wow!!! Thanks a lot! That is almost exactly what I am going for in stock, stock colors/swirl, barrel size, scope, etc. The only thing different I want is the straight flutes. What is the weight of everything? Caliber?

Yeah, I like that too. That looks like the stock that McMillan uses ok their EOL rifle. They used to have the green with black flecks pictured which was Sharp but I don't care for the color of the one they show now. Thanks for making this harder Bob!

I have a hunter on my 7wsm with a #4 Broughton and have another on order in edge fill for a 300 build. It is a great hunting stock.

A-3 Sporters are alot of fun... especially with a light weight #3 Bartlein barrel as pictured.. I currently have something in the works with the carbon fiber A3 Sporter and a 16.5" #3 Bartlein on a trued up Remington action.... Should be fun..
