Ok, Heres the scoop... I have a brand new Remington 700 Police MLR .338 Lapua and I want to build it out toos shelf compared to how it comes out of the box. I ourchased a McMillan A5 Tactical Stock and the action needs to be bedded and also there are no pillars in there either. Ive seen all the videos on youtube and feel pretty confident but still figured it couldnt hurt to get some I npit from the pros here to alleviate my concerns.

I need to know what thw best bedding material to use as well as which pillars to get. I want to make this as painless as possible. Thanx in advance for your help.

Get a bedding kit from Score High Gunsmithing.

Pro-Bed 2000 epoxy, pillars, T-handles, release agent, etc. and a DVD that shows you how to do it.

I just bumped a great bedding thread by member Scimitar to the top, so you will find it right under this one. Look at this thread and other bedding threads by scimitar an wnroscoe to get some great bedding instruction

I agree with FCS, get the Score Hi setup. I recently went through the same thing, looking all over the net for different options. Score Hi has a one stop shop, everyone else is tools from this guy, compound from that guy and pillars from someone else.

Chad, I'm still mulling the idea of using a drill press with a Forstner bit to cut the register for the pillars. I'm thinking a .5 rod would line up the bore of the pillar hole with the chuck. That way I would only have to worry with depth. Thoughts?

My advice is Devcon for your bedding material and I prefer Kiwi neutral shoe polish for a good release agent. As for installing pillars, that gets a little tricky if you have to drill the holes - you need to make sure everything is squared up.

Well the good thing is that the holes are already drilled... its a finsihed mcmillan a5 that just needs paint and bolt nitch opened up slightly as this is for a mcmillan g30 and I have a Remington 700 but aryan @ McMillan assures me they are practically mirror imagines of one another with the exception of that.

I was planning on glass bedding and pillar bedding as well considering its already drilled out, might as well. I ordered the remington 700 pillars and bedding kit from stockys yesterday.
