Counting the days down. I wonder what impact this new tackling rule will or could have.
BSU had its glory days and its doubtful any team will match their 4 year run record but they will never be what they were over those 4 years. The time was lacking but I wish someone would have taken their offer to prove the point one way of the other.
My new favorite team will be whom ever is playing Ohio St but its obvious all the writers and NCAA want them in the championship so might as well say it will be them against the SEC again with another SEC win, most likely UGA if they can game plan and stay focused not panic in big games, Bama if they don't implode or possible LSU if their new O opens it up to score but everyone will want UF to play their old coach so things might get interesting as this could be a super mega pay day for the NCAA.

Holy cow, look at this joke of a schedule Ohio State plays. Urban Meyer should be fired if they don't go undefeated and play in the national championship game. In addition to playing in the weakest conference next to the Big East, get a load of their non-conference opponents.

That will be the highest strength of schedule once the voting starts or adjusted so they can play in the national champ game.

I don't think anyone will ever match this record as it's highly unlikely another no-name team will come out of a looser conference and have the arrogance and audacity to think they can play with the big boys just because they get lucky and beat/play one decent team a year.
+1, don't mean to be a BSU hater, but if they played in a real conference (ie: SEC, PAC 12, Big 12 even the ACC or ahem...Big 10) and got their brains beaten in every week, they'd have been lucky to have won 7-8 games each of those years. I admit they beat a few good teams - UGA, Oregon and Oklahoma but those were the ONLY decent teams they played each season. Not too hard to get up for one big game when the rest of your season consists of little more than scrimmages.
We will never know but they beat everyone they were told they could not. If the SEC is so powerful and full of whoopin, why didn't UGA at home in the state of GA against a supposedly inferior team from a poor conference run the score up by gashing large chucks of green up the middle, burn DBs for easy scores, D come crashing in for multiple sacks and tackles for loses. Its was one game but again, why didn't a top SEC team at home knock the smack out of an inferior team to prove the point the SEC is almighty?

SEC......you didn't mention the Aggies. Who beat bama last year and will be one of the biggest games of the year on week 3 playing in Kyle Field against bama.

Yep, we will never "know" but we'll be able to make educated speculation based on facts. Let's look at BSU's schedule for 2012.
You played 1 school from a major conference, Michigan State; a mediocre school at best, and you lost to them. Then you played a second tier school (BYU) that you beat. Everyone else was no-name schools with small time programs so sure, you can get up for one "big" game and do well because BSU knows they can cruise the rest of the year. And I like Georgia's reference knowing it was the first game of the year and everyone knows the first game is an excellent example of how a football team is going to do. As the saying goes, even a blind hog can find a nut.
Plus BSU is 9-4 since 1999 in bowl games. Not an impressive record.
No one mentioned the Faggies because no one cares. Again, here's an example of luck playing a role. Ten times A&M and Bama plays and Bama wins 9 out of 10. "Johnny Football" should be called "Johnny Fuck-up" because he's followed by more controversy than Kim Kardashian. And actually, it may be one of the "biggest games" to A&M but to Bama you will be another stepping stone on the way to ANOTHER national championship. Texas A&M has always been the bastard child in Texas and will continue to be so in the SEC. If I were you I would be careful putting your dick out there about beating Bama when it got stomped by LSU and Florida.
Of course opening up your tough schedule with Rice and Sam Houston State A&M should be ready to play Bama after those two scrimmages.
Yea, the aggies took it to us last year. Bama was a flat, tired football team at the time. They played awful in the first part of ball game as they were not prepared for Johnny fuckball. I guess that will be the aggies claim to fame for the next 20 years. Kind of like when Mississippi state beat bama in 81, they were still selling and wearing the we beat bama t shirts 6 years later. You can bet your butt the aggies won't play a tired, flat team this year. Bama will reload and roll in 2013!
I am not a BSU supporter so they are not my team, I am a fan of college football all Div and as a fan recoginize it for what it is and what programs accomplish, not blow a horn blindly. BSU came from a poor program and grew into a very talented program that beat all the top schools they said they could not. TCU is another. N Dakota looks to be the next program 9 - 3 record against D1 programs over the last 5 seasons. If you cannot fathom success from programs like these then you are no true fan to the sport. Fans and boosters did not play in the game, only the players and coaches were on the field and every team still said BSU brought more than they thought in talent and coaching and did not respect them and lost. Last year they loss over half their team and played on the field with a very young team that has to grow. Teams like these black mark is their division but they play who they play, its not their fault that most teams will not play them but there a few, Bama did except = BSU wins the the looser cannot recover, win and it was against an inferior team.
How did the almighty SEC best conference in D1 fair in last years bowl games? Look back at their record over the last 10 years and see just how well they did Vs the other conferences? SEC talk about their conference as a whole top to bottom the best. This year the SEC plays 19 games against sub conferences, not too much bragging there. SEC fans talk about their conference until facts come out then revert to LSU and BAMA..not the most stellar record in bowls.

Sure, BSU came from a crappy program and turned it into a good program, that's a fact But what isn't a fact is the implication that they could succeed in any (major) conference with the same domination they showed in their poor conference based solely on the fact they beat a one major team a season.

Yes, because they expected a shitty team like those represented by the others in the conference. So don't assume a lack of preparation by an opponent equates to dominance by BSU. Do you think others will make that mistake now?

Bowl games to me are a joke with the exception of the national championship, which the SEC has won 9 out of the last 16 years with Alabama alone accounting for three of those in the last four years. Now when I played a bowl meant something. Now bowl games are nothing more than revenue producers and I don't care what conference it is. Winning a bowl means nothing other than bragging rights.

This is where you and I agree. I am not an SEC fan and don't feel it's a superior conference by any stretch. Now with that being said, EVERY conference, including your beloved BSU, is playing a sub-conference team (hello, Tennesse-Martin?) so I wouldn't be too quick to judge any team in that respect. Besides you said the SEC, which is 14 teams only playing 19 games against sub conferences? So essentially what you're saying is every team in the SEC only plays against ONE sub conference opponent. Please show me ANY conference where none of the teams play against a sub-conference opponent.

Alabama has won three of the last four national championships. AND for the FIRST TIME in NCAA history shut out an opponent in the NC game. So to compare bowl schedules between Bama and BSU is not only ridiculous, it's laughable.

Since 2008 Alabama Football has gone 61 - 7. Of the seven games they lost
Two were to the eventual national champion
Three were in the SEC
One was to an opponent they anhilated in the NC game
One was to an SEC opponent who got beat by a team Bama beat
I don't see excuses there, I see a team that obviously dominates their opponent by anyone's standards and wins 99% of the time against top-tier opponents.
So BSU deserves respect from the standpoint that they put Boise on the map but they have a LONG way to go before they can even come close to comparing themselves to big-time programs.

Are you trying to compare bsu to the alabama football program, if so you obviously don't know. Bsu has had a couple of good football teams, that's for sure. I live within and grew up within a few miles from UA. Have you seen their facility's? There would be no comparison. If you don't know about tired, flat football teams it's because your school doesn't play the tough competitition on a weekly basis. NO team or coach has Ever been able to bring their A-Game every week. Every team is suspect to lose against good teams any given week in the Sec or other good conferences as well. When you only have one or two games to get up for it makes it easy. Ill never say bama will win it all every year but as long as Sabans there you can bet the will be in the hunt. Bsu has done well and their program has improved but to compare their program to a lot of other big time programs is crazy.
I would have to disagree and say it's quite the opposite. Bama is obsessed with aTm right now! Read about all the stuff they are doing to prepare for aTm. It's as if they do not care about anyone else.

Ill tell you who they are focused on right now and that is Virginia tech. The fans may be focused on tam but saban and their team is focused on getting better one day at a time. That's what real winners do!

Embarrassing TAM in College Station as Alabama did to LSU in the national championship will prove, once more, that a victory against Alabama is nothing more than a fluke.
I know it's a bitter pill to swallow but the fact of the matter is TAM was in Texas' shadow playing second fiddle and it's going to be worse in the SEC as TAM will be in the shadow of Alabama and LSU. Look on the bright side, when you beat Ol' Miss you can claim consistent SEC victories.

I will have to say he's done it as well as anybody. I know saban and he's the most focused person I've ever met. He's looking at getting better now , not looking weeks down the road. By the way , Johnny football is one hell of avplayer and I hope he gets his act straight and plays. I want to play against their best, so we can say we beat or lost to their best. Believe me when I say alabama respects all opponents but not scared or obsessed with anyone. We may not win em all but well be in the hunt.

This year, many have said A&M has the best running back corps (as a complete depth chart unit) in the SEC, and arguably in the nation. with or without manziel, Alabama will have to play near flawless in College Station. as far as i can tell, Alabama has only played once in Kyle Field and got a win in 1988. its going to be a good game.

Mike you do know that Darren Rovell has been in trouble a couple of times for writing things that aren't true because he didn't have a credible source. He was pranked into writing that the NBA lockout caused prostitution and escort services to take a hit since NBA players couldn't afford them like before. The guy is not really the model of journalistic integrity.

Oh I'll be the first to stand up and say that until there is definitive proof nothing matters. BUT, where there's smoke there's fire and it wouldn't surprise me given the circumstances and some of the things he's done in the past-especially his attitude-if there aren't at least some truth to this. Of course, they found Cam Newton innocent so maybe he will be the teflon Don
