A friend of mine had some Vihtavuori powder in order at Bruno's; the store called him yesterday and asked him if he wanted to switch his VV order for a different kind of powder, as (I quote) "they did not expect any Vihtavuori in ever again".

We know that Nammo (a parent company of Lapua) is negotiating with Eurenco since March; see link below:
Nammo Plans to Acquire Vihtavuori Powder Plant in Finland « Daily Bulletin

Anyone with further info?

Still in negotiations, but it sounds very promising right now. I'll be more than happy to advise, just as soon as we hear something concrete, but hang in there. Too good a powder to just give up on this early.

I should have known you were on it; agreed on VV powder's qualities. We were surprised by the comments coming from Bruno's store...may be a misinformed overzealous employee.

Will wait for further development and possible happy ending of negotiations.

Thanks

Lester and his crew are a good bunch, but everyone in the industry has been a bit frazzled this past year or so. I've been in the industry well over 25 years now, through the times with Janet Reno and Bill Clinton, and I've NEVER seen the sort of things that are going on right now. People are concerned, not taking any chances, and glomming on to anything that's shooting related in any way, shape or form. I know several (including Bruno's) that haven't been able to keep much of anything on their shelves for a year or so now. Literally comes in the receiving bay, gets repacked against backorders that already exist, and then go right back out the shipping door without ever hitting the showroom shelves.

Agreed, I must say that a couple of times, Bruno called himself to let me know about a primer/powder situation/order. Considering how crappy things are and how busy they have been for a while now, I appreciated his calls. Now, if we talk pricing, some shooters are getting tired of putting out the extra $$ and are taking notice for later; they are also actively looking for other places to buy from, which they do find from time to time and the difference in prices is quite noticeable. Not taking side, just mentioning facts; as far as I am concern and like many others, we do not like the situation but we do what we have to do to be able to keep on shooting. Like many other things in life, it's all a matter of choice.
