Got a tikka sporter260 in a xlr chassis. I was using la mags in the original laminate stock and worked great. My current load is 142 smk, lapua brass and 44.1 gr h4350@ 2.330 oal from ogive. That length isn't close to fitting in an aics mag. I would need to seat bullets to 2.295" to fit and feed without tips dragging. That would be a .055" jump, hate to jack with the load much as it gets me 2850mv, 7.xx sd, and shoots in the .3-.4" ave and put 5 rds into snuff can size groups at 800. I have saw good and bad reviews of the type 2 mags, just seems like the bad reviews are more current. All different sources on the net, what's the folks at the hide say?

my experience with them is they feed and function ok but cannot take more then 7 rds in them before the sides puff out enough to make them terribly hard to get in and out of the magwell and or strip a round from. unless they have changed the metal or design? i went back to aics mags.

That was one complaint i read about, thanks for your input killswitch. About how old are ur mags? A yr old, 2,3; i guess if they haven't changed anything it wouldn't matter what vintage they are.

Ditto for my experience with them. They may be better now, but I would need a very good reason to move away from AI mags. I have also used JP mags which were bombproof as well.
