Amazon says drone deliveries are the future

When I heard of this I thought of the RC helicopter enthusiast that chopped the top of his skull off with his "toy".

They had better plan their routes well clear of any skeet range.

Oh sweet!!! We'll never have to pay for clay pigeons again!!!:D:D:D

Oh, full auto shotgun!

But seriously I'll bet the FAA is shitting their pants, can you imagine all the crap that's gonna be flying around. There is going to be police drones, private eye spy drones, illicit trade delivery drones, NSA spy drones, Amazon drones, Apple iDrones, bla..bla..

If I was in charge I would just say flat out "NO WAY!"

Mmmmm... how long before the drug cartels pick up on this? I can imagine waves of cocaine laden drones flooding across the border to Juan and Pepe's rooftop. After all, South America is home to the real Amazon! And not to mention that Brazil has a very sophisticated aerospace manufacturing sector.

Probably not too far off the truth. they already have used spud guns to shoot packages across the Rio Grand. Resourceful little parasites.

Greyghost, The same thing that happens to your packages now when you are not home, it will be left wherever the drone landed in your yard. I saw this on the news and they are only thinking about this for people who live within a few miles of an Amazon distribution center and the package will be delivered within 30 minutes of you ordering it. Besides the obvious concerns of weather conditions, flight paths/elevation that these things fly at, I can invasion all kinds of problems with this idea. Someone will hack the software in the first few days and redirect drones to take the packages to different locations.

Day late, dollar short...been going on for years already...

If we had unlimited bandwidth, maybe. Don't see this happening as most everything in the microwave spectrum is being used, unless of course .gov wants to give up some of theirs. Could be they are going to clock from cell tower to tower. I have to ask when the RF or Mw they will use fails, who pays for your $4K glass that gets bounced tested?

I have at work a big worrisome over everything conspiracy guy who just sees nothing but bad from this. I came up with the idea and a few others at work thought it would be fun to have one of these send a birthday card to his house. I'd even pay the amazon guy a few extra bucks to put sticker on the side of the drone that said CIA. Have the card say happy birthday and best wishes. Signed the CIA. PS, we are watching you. We all agreed if we posted the video of his reaction on youtube it'd be a hit, half of us figured he'd probably try and bring down the drone before it took off. Yeah I know its a dick move but sometimes you have to make you're own entertainment.
