6.5 Creedmoor Seating Depth

Unless you plan on single feeding each round the seating depth is generally limited by magazine length. I shoot Berger VLD's in several different calibers and they have all shot well when they are off the lands. Brian Litz had an article on how the find the sweet spot when seating close to the lands is not possible. The only problem with Berger's is that they are impossible to find. Tried the AMAX 140's but prefer the 140 VLD's and the 139 gr. Scenars for my 6.5 CM's. Good luck.

I don't cram shit into the lands either. Would like to hear your reasons why and see if they are the same I share. If you want amax to have a .010-.020 jump and the oal to be around 2.810-2.820 for aics mag comfort you need to have your chamber cut with the match reamer. The freebore on that reamer is .169 or so where the standard creedmoor is .199

I dont like jaming to the land and thsts why i choose HYBRIDS over vld majority of the time it is more forgiving on depth...and jamming to the land means more tention locking bolt where it slowly worn out my bolt lug

Bjay, You don't use any bolt lube every once in awhile while you're shooting, or some synthetic grease? I use Militec-1 or moly chain lube.

I use synthetic grease but i still not fan of creating friction between lugs and receiver by jamming rounds..and besides i dont shoot vld anyway(known to love being mate with land) if u noticed my precision rifle use either hybrids scenar amax or smk them bullets where can be jump up to .020 and hybrids up to .060.

When I load I load my 140 AMAX at .020" off the lands. That said factory ammo shoots great and that's about .040" off. .020" is a good place to start though with AMAX bullets.
