Gunsmithing About to Alumahyde my Upper

You'll be fine. Get some non chlorinated brake cleaner, and spray the everliving hell out of it. If you're wife isn't home, you can also put it in the oven at a low temperature to pull some of the oils out. That is of course, provided you have removed all the plastic bits.

So I finished my alumahyde project. Everything came out fantastic. There is one thing I did not consider and that is the added thickness of my Threaded parts. Particularly the buffer tube. Any good ways to take down the the finish on the threads to allow easier reassembly?

Dang, you're making me wish I had done that before my recent build. Looks fantastic! I've heard acetone will take it off, so if you put some on a rag you should be able to strip the threads carefully. No personal experience though. If not, a fine abrasive cloth might do the trick if you can get it down inside the threads.

Alumahyde is notorious for fouling spray tips...BUY THE EXTRA BAG OF TIPS...once I figured this out every can runs like a charm...
