Just finished the new build, which weighs in at a respectable 6.3 lbs. unloaded and, currently, unscoped. I'm just waiting on brass and the new set of rings.

Specs:

Seekins SP223 lower/MCSR upper, MCSR v2 9" rail, Seekins adjustable gas block, ARP 16" Scout 6.8x43 barrel, ARP bolt, Wilson Combat parkerized BCG, Geissele SSA-E trigger, Super-Stoc, Ergo grip, Spike's Tactical melonited gas tube, Spike's Tactical Heavy buffer, Sprinco red spring, YHM thread protector.

The MCSR rail is incredibly light but sturdy. Feels like a monolithic. I've always been a fan of Seekins rings and DBMs but am impressed as all get out with the quality of their upper/lower. The fit between the upper and the ARP barrel is really tight. Seekins uses a titanium nut with 1 1/8" flats rather than a conventional barrel nut and the receiver threads are inside. I had to order a crows foot to torque it down since nobody local had one that big. (Seekins posted somewhere to torque between 45-50 ft. lbs. and not to use any lubricant). There's virtually no wobble between upper and lower and the Super-Stoc does seem to lock down tighter than my CTRs. About an ounce lighter too.

The rear takedown pin required cutting a few coils off the spring. For now, and no plans to change, I went with a thread protector to keep weight and length down.

I'm eager to get out shooting, but UPS delayed my SWFA shipment until Friday and USPS has managed to at least temporarily lose my brass. (I'm being optimistic). I have three powders to try (H335, N530, and Alliant 1220-R, magnum small rifle primers and Berger 130 gr. Classic Hunters. The goal is to develop an accurate, high velocity hunting round that's still safe and doesn't beat the brass up too much.

Love to see those 68's. Gotta Wilson Combat 18", Addax Tactical 18", ARP 18" barreled Noveske build, and 2 16" one RRA, and one DD, and the DD took a 160lb spike @ 502yds just this year. Love the caliber for whitetail and hogs. Also gotta 411yd, and 426yd whitetail kills on the DD. My Wilson Combat is the most accurate, but not far above the Addax, but your gonna love it if your a hunter. Love to see a nice 6.8. Nice stick.

I'm so impressed with what I'm seeing from Seekins that I can comfortably recommend their products sight unseen. I've played with a lot of their billet sets over the past year, seen them come through the DM Course, and they just feel like a totally different gun than an AR15, right up there with JP's billet guns, like the OP says, feels monolithic.

Hope your brass gets located man! USPS lost several things addressed to me over the past few years.

Fortunately, the brass made it today. It'll be early January before I get out shooting though. My goal is to work up a good hunting load, preferably with 130 gr. Berger Classic Hunters. I was able to find two of the recommended powders locally (H335 and VV N530) but had to order 1200-R along with a couple boxes of the Bergers. I hope the 1200-R gives me the performance it has for some loaders. If not, there are some other 6.8 enthusiasts within 1.5 hours drive that might want some.

I don't think a rifle could be more Seekinized than this unless Glenn built it himself. I just added the Seekins X-High rings that came today from SWFA. If I ever add a brake...no brainer on that too. For now, I'll leave the SS 3-15 on it because it's the scope I have available and certainly is good for load development. I can't decide yet between the SS 1-6 or the SS 3-9. The 1-6 makes sense for the useful hunting range and if I ever get to Texas to hunt pigs, might actually use illum. (I never have in Montana). It's more compact too. But I like the 3-9, appreciate the lower cost and the 3.5 oz lighter weight.

Great job.
You have made yourself a really nice rifle. I hope to learn how to do the same in the next couple of years or sooner.

I'm planning on having Tactical Ironworks build me a complete 6.8 upper with the ARP 18in barrel to run on top of my RRA lower. I am completely new to the AR platform and loving it. I just wonder why I wasted all that time and money developing a bolt action centric approach to rifles? I have hunted for more than 50 years with semi-automatic shotguns. I guess I was just brainwashed into believing that only bolt action rifles were precise. Ha Ha what a sack of BS!!!
