    Hey guys,
So I'm looking at replacing my McRee for a more conventional stock and I was wondering which stocks are being used in competition and why. Pros/ cons of a certain manners/McM over a chassis?if I go with manners, mini chassis or not?
This will be my comp rifle. Either a surgeon 591 or an alpha 11 barreled action in 260, 6.5x47, 6.5 cm etc. undecided on caliber.

Manners for sure having owned multiples of each. As to style, stock feel to the shooter is important. Some like a more vertical grip like the T2 or T4 Manners. I like a more conventional grip so I run a T3 in matches. If you liked the pistol grip feel of the McRee then a more vertical might be better for you.

Mini chassis is the way to go. The simplicity of bolt in and go and a DBM.

Definitely the mini chassis. I run t5a 's and love them. I didn't know how I would like the thumbhole but not love it. The one thing I have to be careful about is I will eventually start squeezing the hell out of the stock which reflects in my trigger pull. I do the same thing with a steering wheel while driving. When shooting I try to put my thumb up top and use the thumbhole while trying to get into position.

Will an alpha 11 or surgeon drop into the mini chassis?

I know a Surgeon 591 will fit. It's what i have my switch barrel made from and it sits in a T3 with a Mini Chassis. I just went and used Manners stock builder page and it lists the Alpha 11 in one step and then allows you to pick the mini chassis in the next so it should also work for you.

I have a few of each Manners and MCM. Both are great stocks. I would choose manners anyday myself. I just love how Toms shop is ran. I have been there many times and I'm always treated very well and I like dealing with people like that. Not that McM has been rude to me. LOL BUT.........Myself, the first stock I would go to myself is the KMW sentinel made by McM, badass. BUt I'm real happy with my T5 and folder.

Agreed the mini chassis is a huge selling point. Had i known about it when i was looking for a stock for my .308 i would be running manners. That said i do love my A5. It feels great and fits me perfect. I like the look of the T4 but not the forearm so much. I will be picking up a T2A though for my short build i imagine it's going to be a great stock.

Ive handled the Manners T4, MCM A4 and A5. For me the T4 had too much palm swell and the A4/A5 fit just perfect. Other than that they are both quality stocks and offer similar features (except the mini chassis....bit + to Manners for that).

why are you looking to replace the mcree? what don't you like that makes you want to switch?

Another vote for Manners here! The point has already been made that it depends on the shooters ergonomics and personal taste, so a lot of is subjective to the shooter. Me personally, I could never get comfortable with a McMillan A4, the A5 was close second in comfort behind the HTG; which is the only McMillan left that I own, the rest are Manners.

The Manners team seem to be constantly stepping up their game and improving their product line, leading the innovations in the field. I can't remember the last time McMillan introduced a product that was a true game changer, making everyone want to upgrade their current stocks. And Manners seems to doing that very thing almost yearly.

Tom is also very supportive of the shooting and hunting community as is seen with what seems like every PRS match you care to check out. Its not uncommon to see him respond to threads when just about anyone has a question.

Why do people buy any chassis style system? It's a choice we have. I would rather have a mini chassis so I can just screw the barreled action in and if I had more than one I can swap them out or if I changed them I wouldn't have to worry about rebedding.

Also some people don't know how to bed so a chassis is an easier set up.

You don't see the need and want to use the PTG and bed yourself then that's your choice. You got to remember you have to add $60-70 for a magazine, the Manners comes with a magazine, to that PTG price as well and bedding material.
