My max OAL for 75 amax in my 223ai chamber is 2.410. I have noticed that most guys try to get there throats set up to kiss the land at about 2.450 to 2.500 with the 75 amax in 223ai.

Is there any negatives to having a shorter throat? I seem to get better accuray with mild to mid level charges rather than max 3000fps + loads. Is this due to the shorter throat?

LBH, I run my 223 AI at 2.415, this is what works best in my gun so far.
I played with different COL and I settled on this length...speed is of no concern if you can't hit what you are aiming at consistently. Find what works and go with it.

I run a straight 223 at 1.924 base to ojive with the 75 Amax.
With this bullet you have lot to lot variation with OAL. Significant.
Mine are running .012 off. Very consistent results over 1500rds and bullets from several non matching lots.

ETA my dimension above is from using my Hornady comparator.

21 inch barrel, Best accuracy is actually at about 2780 fps, Almost as good at about 2930 or so. I have just about given up on trying to find an accurate load at 3000+, The gun will do 3050 but accuracy sucks. How much Jump works for yall with the AMAX?

Temp stability along with accuracy is why I went with 8208. Some guys swear by 335 but its not very temp. Stable I have been told
