It's easy enough to open it all back up until August. That doesn't mean anyone has to use the site.
Might be an interesting experiment to see what people do.
On the other hand, they breached first. All the pricks had to do was answer your calls and emails.
Of course we all know that if we did go back, the parent company will not be able to keep their hands out of the batter, and things like "bad words" and "hurtful phrases" will have to be done away with. Not to mention there's no chance in Hell they'll let us keep the Firearms PX section. You think PayPal is bad? Watch CBS news for a day or so.

We are not going back... the only thing now to figure out the particulars of the split, beyond, I get nothing owed to me, as they stiffed me January, February and now 1/2 of March. Part of the problem is determining if the breaches are on Scout or CBS and it appears I would have to chase Scout which is a complete waste of time.
I could go to court and say, CBS, but they can easily say, No, Scout, then it would be a total waste of time, cause then it's just throwing money away.

Great idea. I'd happily buy an OAF bucket of SH shwag. Although a golf umbrella would be handier for me than a beach umbrella. T-shirt, patches, stickers, embroidered range bag, at least a few coffee mugs. I'm sure GaGa's greatest hits CD would find its way in there also.

Frank I know you were trying to do bigger and brighter things, but I never liked the change and hardly ever went to the Scout site. I doubt I was alone. This will get me coming back (especially if this posts with my old screen name and avatar). Hopefully it won't take long to monetize your efforts here and you're able to make a living.
As for ads, I for one wouldn't be upset if they were targeted and require a click to launch something. Can you sell banner space here like other sites do, or are you stuck with a google feed? But please try to keep out pop-up ads or video ads that launch automatically. Nothing like having some trouble sleeping and trying to sneak in some gun p0rn on the computer only to have my wife woken by a video ad of people blasting on a firing line because I forgot to turn the sound off.
And listen keyboard warriors, there's a word for guys who don't worry about pissing their wives off at O-dark-thirty -- divorced. I don't want to be that guy.

There should not be any pop up ads, my Android tablet gave me a pop up warning which was odd, as well all the ads will be from company we all use an love... no google ads
The best way to support the site is the online training section as we ramp up the ads, and unfortunately they are necessary thing to keep the lights on. We still have a lot of traffic and traffic cost money as does the work to keep the software functioning correctly.

Notice the vendor ad boxes on the top. They sell those so those vendors can stay up and within easy access for customers to see, or find, and click directly to the vendor. I think they actually sell more than are visible. If you reload the page the ads cycle through other vendors. Something like that might be a way to have a steady income stream every month. Just a thought. And I, for one, would be love something like that. More than once I've had to do a search for a vendor and would have appreciated an "ad" like that that was easy to find. Obviously you have vendor ads. But an additional bar with many of them together would be convenient for us, and a possible source of extra cash for you, and more sales and recognition for the vendors. Just a thought.

This is the only site where I'm now actually making it a point to click on ads on the premise that hitting an ad has some benefit. That 22 Nosler ad at the top is badass. I've now got a new project in mind.

But we are working hard to get sorted out, the loss of two months via CBS/Scout hurt, but was not totally unexpected. I was hoping and thought they would pay the bill for January, that was a nasty turn of events but in the end, being finished with them is the best case.

Awesome Frank. I know all of that completely sucked, but it's got to be a huge weight off of your shoulders; know that's all done and in the past. It's all about the future now, and it's off to a very strong start it sounds like.

You'd get a trip out of the deal, and I'm sure you know somebody decent in the area. And things will continue to build and be good and well with the world, here.

I glad things are back to the way they were. I am even glader to hear that going back to Scout is not an option. My wife loved the Scout site because it sucked so bad that the time I was spending on the hide was reduced about 90%. I really hated the auto-play video crap.

Online training is back up and running you have a section in your profile under "User Settings" where it says Subscriptions

I don't know your revenue numbers, but have friends who run other forums of this scale. It's a hit, yes. But in the big picture, it's short money. You are back with your independence. Your revenue models are solid. And, you know, if you add merchandising and endorsements to your revenue model... there is even more out there.
One of the interesting dynamics has been the point many members have made that they block ads everywhere.... except on SH. That's huge for your advertising model. Merchandise is another stream. Licensing the logo (and funny stuff) has a plus. And, last, endorsements from SH's owners and its members. You know how much companies pay for endorsements, reviews, etc. on products from the cognoscenti? Just ask Jeremy Clarkson and the guys at Top Gear. You are the Top Gear of shooting shit from far away.
Scout was worthwhile at the time... But homecoming now is an even better option. Remember, I was in marketing... or was that PsyOps. I can't remember. It's Thursday.

Perhaps Frank could make a few bucks selling stock, but if he sold too much then he would no longer be the owner. I think I have a better idea, If Frank needs to make more money he should auction a set number of hammers. Specifically ban hammers. Anyone possessing a ban hammer can ban another member for 30 days. The Ban Hammer would be a single use item, if you want to use in more than once you would need to out bid other hiders for another one.
To loosely quote Howard Wolowitz from The Big Bang Theory, upon purchasing said Hammer from the first recipient to obtain one here, then sell it on Egay:

The short man finally wore me down, I have never paid a subscription for any site ever but frank punishing us for being cheap and joining forces with the dark side for a few years has forced me to rethink this situation. How do you get this premium subscription?
Click on your profile and go to user settings. There is a box titled subscriptions on the left. It the opens a drop down menu to pick monthly or six month subscription.
That is funny and I think it is just right for this site... I can see a Ban Hammer War Happening ... I would probably have to do 10 days for $10 so it's not too bad on people
You should offer a "lifetime" subscription. Not sure what the price-point should be. I'd ink up on that.
