I am getting a savage hog hunter in .223 or a Howa 20" threaded hvy brl and dropping it in bell and Carlson target/competition stock. With the Howa I assume I can use the legacy sports bottom metal and drop it in with a little fitting? For the savage since the hog hunter doesn't have a floor plate I'm guessing the stock will need to be sent to and milled for CDI? I assume the dark eagle mags won't work because they are designed for factory savage factory detachable mags. Don't need anything super heavy duty although it would be an added bonus. Any ideas/experience?

20" barrel is what I prefer. Threaded is a bonus. I have yet to see an FV at my cabelas in .223 only 22-250 and 308. They say I can't order one and they can't tell me if one comes in and generally are dicks who don't really know their stuff anyways. I can get a hog hunter for 400$, I would gladly get an FV and have it chopped down and threaded but I've never seen one in .223 at any store ever. Dicks has the VT but they won't sell it without the scope and it has the smaller bolt knob they are 679$. I prefer the hog hunter knob, I assume it's the same as the FV? Big round knob?

I had CDI inlet a Bell and Carlson Style 2 stock for their DBM for a Savage 12FV in .223. These are on sale at Cabela's for $369. It turned out very well and is very accurate. What is your rationale for selecting the Hog Hunter? I use 10 round MDT magazines per the link below. http://www.cdiprecisiongunworksstore...223-magazines/

Also what was the grand total for having the stock inletted, shipping and parts if you don't mind me asking?

Looking at cabelas site they say the .223 is back order able but who knows how that would go.
