That's fair enough, I'm not a fan of his. Can you name another nation besides Austrila that has sent soldiers to fight along side America in every conflict since WWII. There is not many. If an Australian PM is asking it is because asking makes him look good to his people. This diverse Somilian makes us look like shit to our friends. I'de rather send the Somilians home than the Aussies. If a girl in your family had to interact with the police would you want it to be this guy?
I have no feelings that the Aussies are anything but good people.
Turnbull actually has some good ideas when it comes to the globalist created refugee crisis and he has somewhat resisted efforts to destroy the Western Culture which Australia is part of. He certainly got the better deal from Obam letting us take people from more dangerous parts of the world while he gets people from less crazy parts of the world. Truth be told we don't need anymore ISIS nor does Australia need a dose of MS13 so why are we even playing this "change the worlds demographic" game.

but...During the past events after the fact we start to learn things the media kept from us to promote their agenda. In between the event and learning the truth shit gets burned more people get hurt and the divisions get deeper. Im not saying that will happen now but my skepticism is what the media has earned by becoming other than an impartial reporter of facts. I don't know any more about this case than anyone else, and with the limited information available I cannot make any sort of of informed decision, but what has been described in the press makes it hard to understand for sure.
That said, a good read for anyone interested is the SCOTUS case, Graham V Connor, which gives some insight into how officer involved shootings are judged in part. The objective reasonableness standard is why we often examine circumstances in calm reflection after the fact with full clarity and wonder how the hell someone gets aquitted.
It's not supposed to save officers who are grossly negligent, who ignore policy or training or worse, but a departments managers also need to be held responsible for poor training standards or not dropping people who just aren't cut out for the job.

I would suggest this is the reason for all the media coverage. They are hoping for a conviction now. Then they will decry, look what happens when a black cop, shoots a blond white women. Drawing a comparison with events, that have little to no similarity.

I don't understand the driving around, unholstered, with gun in the lap thing. Tactics are just a mess. If they are worried about approach and the cruiser is an issue to approach how about considering dismounting? Why not respond to the callers residence and make contact there? This is supposed to be an upper middle class quiet neighborhood but it seems like they approached it as if going into a hot LZ. This whole thing is a mess.

I know in one hiring process locally there were 16,000 that took the test, 750 made the selection pool, 3 classes were filled from that 750 with about 200 in each class, each class averaged 135 graduates. Of those 400+/- graduates some of those were bounced later for deficiencies in break in or later disciplinary action.

Just take some facts and craft a story around the those details. Doesn't matter if that story represents the actual events but craft one that pushes your agenda.

Agree, particularly the dismount. Again I don't know the facts, how much time to react etc but I always pay attention with someone walking right up to the cruiser door, and like you said the solution is pretty simple-open drivers door and get out to greet said person-"Hi there can I help you?" Alley light on drivers side, flashlight whatever.

There is so much internal light in the cruiser with a monitor, control buttons and whatever that unless you shut it down, observe some light discipline, you are blind to the outside world.

Better yet, hire better officers and pay them more. Around here, troopers are mostly great guys and professional and confident in their job. I believe Mil experience or a bachelors is required. Deputies are more of a mixed bag of decent people (mostly fat-asses though) and some dickheads. The city cops in the little towns are the kids that got their asses beat in school. They're still chicken shits, but now they've got a badge and they mean to use it. IMO, it's that type that cause the problems. Edit: Add Africans that don't belong here in the first place to that group as well.
I understand the pay to be pretty good and that the population paying for service is much kinder to police than the news would have us believe.
What has to be depressing is seeing good work go to waste by factors beyond their control.....courts that allow for a revolving door clientele and pols that won't allow for removing people from society that won't conform to societies standards. Instead they believe it's easier to remove the rights of the law abiding as they are less likely to bitch about it and there are no incarceration costs.....basically the inmate pays for their own loss of freedom.
Lately it seems the risks of policing are becoming less because of the liability of doing the work....what if someone gets hurt in the pursuit? Shut it down. What if we end up losing a voter when the PO contacts ICE. Sanctuary. Let's beat the cops in the media so much that they do nothing and the pols will be happy with that. Only harm than will be to the taxpayer, who cares?

If she was still an Australian Citizen, then yes he actually does have a right under international diplomatic rules and US law to ask questions and receive answers regarding them.
Much the same as if she was in Jail, the Australian embassy would have the right to meet with her & her to request to have a meeting with them.
That's not to say he would have any ability to change anything in outcomes or procedures, but he does have a right to ask.
The US Embassies make regular use of those same rights when Americans get into trouble abroad if they happen to have a reason to be interested, usually for some political reason or publicity stuff. (otherwise your local USA embassy couldn't care less if you rotted in a dungeon most of the time).

I just watched that live. The mayor came out to announce the resignation of the current white female police chief, and her replacement with a black male. The BLM-type crowd shouted her down and took over the press conference. The complaints were against the police in general, and the mayor herself, NOT the speculated reaction to a black officer getting in trouble for shooting a white woman. The press conference was held in a smallish room. One of the protestors was carrying an electronic bullhorn with a detached microphone, and that's what they used to take over the press conference. WHO the hell would let someone carrying a bullhorn in to a press conference? WHO could have predicted what might happen? (sarcasm). It made me think whomever was "in charge" of this official press conference scripted the events. You'd have to be an idiot to let a bullhorn in there if you didn't plan on them taking over.

Where is the deep dive into the officers' background. And his psych profile. And his qualifications for being on the force in the first place? Was he the best candidate? Or politically expedient?
I'll defend a brother officer against unfair assertions, charges or second-guessing by the Chair-Force types who never work the road. Sometimes things go very bad, very fast... and the objectively reasonable standard can be challenging.
But this, pardon my French, stinks to high heaven. I can't see how a 'loud noise' can set off an officer to draw from a seated position in a cruiser and fire on an unarmed civilian.

From the first day at the academy, we are ALL pounded with TN vs. Garner... and other scenarios. The decision-making process is less a decision process than it is mental muscle-memory that is aimed at protecting civilians.

I still question why this diversity hire is not being arrested as there was a police officer witness to what happened. The special rights to kill a citizen as a agent of the state and not be arrested as any other citizen when there is no evidence supporting you on the killing has got to change. The comments on the think blue line website is a strong indicator we have a serious problem with the policing profession in some areas of the country.

I wonder: it seems to me that most or the mainstream stories about this event spend little time on the Somali Muslim idenity of the officer. I wonder if in some future case a NRA member Trump supporter officer is accused if the media will find more time to discuss how his idenity affected his motivation to commit a crime.
And could someone please send me a link to the stories of widespread rioting and looting by oppressed Australians? Burning city blocks and police cars? Stealing beer in large cans and emptying boomerang stores of their contents? There must have been nation-wide rioting over this un-armed civilian being killed under suspicious circumstances by police officer. Try as I might, I can't find news stories covering the protesters who are are burning down student unions and shooting fireworks into coffee shops and rolling over cruisers. Is the news just not covering the rioting?

I have been trying to keep a breast of this story. It happened just as i was leaving on a trip which i am still on. More a time issue than a service issue, i may not be fully up to speed. So if my comments are out of wack, say so and i will adjust.
my understanding is the officer shot when he heard a loud noise. If that is the case, that right there is negligent. One of the things that was pounded into my head 35 years ago while taking "hunters saftey course" was never ever shoot at a noise.
Many stories of people shooting a loved one either in the woods or at home due to a noise.
Seen it myself. Years ago (30) deer hunting the weather turned nnasty so we came home a day early. No cell phones, so didn't notify my mom. We get home unload in the garage and enter the house. My mom is standing there with a 357 about 2 feet from my fathers head. She just barley stopped herself.
If the officer has lawyered up and will not be interviewed he should be arrested. Booked and realesed on bail if needed but he needs to be "processed" like anyone else.
I think i have shown many times here i support LEO. WIth that we need to make the attempt to hire LEO that do not piss themselves. You can't just go shooting cause a car back fired or a garbage can fell over. The situation needs to be verified and understood.
The "i was in fear of my life" paints to broad a brush some times. This guy was so scared shitless (my opinon at the moment) he all but shot his partners nose off. It needs to be shown that given the situation the shooting/fear was justified.

Nope. Well...yes, that's what happened at the press conference (I watched it live), but your take on it is wrong. As I said in my earlier post, they surprised me that the BLM-types did not bring up a beef about the black cop/white woman, etc. They stuck to their usual, "The police are killing everyone and we're going to put a stop to it." It is possible they may have pivoted in the days since to include a complaint about the black cop being unfairly treated, but I haven't seen it. In fact, I think they'd have a hard time making that argument because no one has even so much as pointed an "official" finger at him yet. They were very adamant that they wanted the Mayor gone, they weren't impressed with her choice of new, black-male Chief, and that they will somehow "take over" and make sure the city is run "right," (meaning cops will act responsibly, whatever their definition of that is). From what I heard, the fact this cop was black made no difference to them - he's just another cop and part of a system they are convinced is out to destroy them.

Regarding the lady walking up behind a police car and slapping it (if true) - NOTHING excuses the officer's unjustified shooting her, but as to her demise, it may have only been a matter of time (Darwin and all). Can only guess, but the first thought I had was that she was mad the cops were still sitting in the car instead of being down the alley investigating what she called them about.

Tragic that the lady was killed. Sounds like she was naive and had a lack of common sense. However that gives the cop-murderer no cover as his actions appear to be completely beyond justification. I believe a lot of this comes from our federal government strong arming the local police forces with the good old "if you want our dollars you have to comply with our rules". I'm from a very small town and the local LEOs are very nice people but I do get SO tired of the light in the eyes, 3rd degree questioning, and the hand on the firearm AFTER they have come to the door and established I am who I say I am and can see I pose no threat (obviously they should remain cautious and vigilant) but in a county of 10,000 people the LEOs shouldn't be training as if they were in downtown LA............ And what really bothers me is the attitude when approached by an officer is not so much public protection/service as "you're not innocent, you just haven't been caught yet". I know that sounds pretty harsh but it appears to be that is the tone LEOs have implemented and I attribute it to training requirements.

I think its beyond just training. There are saints and scumbags in any population. Unfortunately, the number of scumbags seems to be increasing faster than the saints.

It's an issue of department culture. Police departments, just like businesses and any other organization, have an internal culture that lays the basic tone for how its members will interact with each other and with customers (the public in the case of the police). Seems that more and more police departments have developed a culture that sees us not as fellow citizens but as potential threats and sources of revenue.

I think a LOT of it comes from the Federal Gov militarizing' the local depts. As stated above, what does a little county (25,000? or so) in rural Virginia, like mine, need not one but 2 MRAPS for? The worst case of terrorism Ive seen around here is the local dog catcher shooting a kid in the back because he drove away.
Look at the Police as armed agents of the state, and the state as the play ground o the Repub and Dem parties, its all in the name of population control. I look at the police as victims who think themselves heroes. Sad really, they will continue to act as a military wing of whatever local politician is in charge, and pay the price when the population has enough of their shit. I really think we need to get rid of city and municipal police and go to Sheriffs and maybe State departments. AS for this fk wad in Minn I continue to question why the police are not charged as a civilian would be, also why they are not afforded the same restrictions and freedoms of self defense as civilians are.
