I just managed to snag an AI AW338 (a whole kit and it is a beauty).

However, the previous owner was clearly not a fan of 2 stage triggers and he made it a really creepy and light single stage - I don't know if it would pass a drop test.

Any AI gurus out there to point me in the direction of a manual to correct this travesty?

Congrats on the new (to you) AI!

In all honesty, your trigger is probably too far gone to adjust it yourself and get it back to factory (i.e. SAFE) specs.

Your best bet is to contact Mile High Shooting, they are the authorized repair center for AI rifles. You can remove just the trigger from your rifle, mail it to them, and they can put it in their special fixture to adjust it back to factory specs. Don't quote me on it, but I think it's only like a $75 repair.

Good luck, and make sure to post pics in the AI picture thread :)

Give Mile High a call and see if they can walk you through it over the phone. There's a sear screw and a pull weight screw, so maybe you can back them out or screw them in to a certain point to get to workable pull, then make the finer tweaks. From what I've heard, when you get them adjusted to creepy single stage pulls that aren't drop safe, it's better to get them on an adjustment rack.

You can also mail the trigger to AI to have it serviced.

I think that's what he was referring to as being a challenge since he's in Canada. Maybe it's easier to send to AI-UK or AINA than it would be to send to Mile High, but there might be ITAR or other restrictions that make it difficult.

ITAR really sucks for us Canadians, we do have importers up here that will handle it but it will be $50 per side to do it and it will be stuck in customs hell for awhile as well.

I managed to play with it today after work.

It looked like the previous owner never took the skins off (so I assumed he never got at the 1st stage adjustment screw). Seeing as I only had 2 screws left to adjust I added a couple of turns back on to both the trigger weight and sear engagement screw and the 2 stage trigger came back. I can only guess that the sear had minimal engagement and was unsafe.

Thanks for all the tips.
