If you decriminalize drugs, the problems disappear

Lots of questions. Did his wife have a problem? Was she in real pain or was it a ruse to get drugs? Nothing of course justifies what happened. But if he thought his wife was in hopeless pain verses trying to get a "fix".

Not really the same as legalizing pot. In fact I fail to see the connection as 100's of drug deals "go bad" everyday.

As I have said in previous threads, I do NOT have a problem with idiots poisoning themselves.
What I have a problem with is the other criminal behavior that accompanies it, as well as the cost to the taxpaying public in regards to medical, property and other costs.

The connection is, these are "legal" drugs, which anyone with a prescription can possess.

Without they are just as illegal. Against the law to drive a car without a license (which is basically a permission slip, same as prescription) but people still do it.

If your saying criminal activity will follow any narcotic you would be right. Up to and including murder obviously.

To the OP I don't think people believe decriminalizing drugs will stop criminal behavior.

I think the point of decriminalizing drugs is an effort to embrace reality. No one who is going to smoke crack or shoot heroin said no because it's illegal. There is no reason to lock people up for doing drugs One everyone should have the personal right to be a loser,and no law should say otherwise. 2. Addicts need help, support and treatment. Prison is not the place for that,at least not our prisons. 3. You impression a drug addict you nearly guarantee that even if they get cleaned up with a felony record their odds of a financial future have now been drastically minimized almost guaranteeing that they make a bad future choice

Not clicking on the link due to the fact FNC are fucking morons, but from the posts in this thread I get the gist of it.

Do I believe decriminalizing drugs will stop criminal activity? Yes, because if you're a drug addict, you're a criminal according to the laws. So if the drugs are decriminalized, then the user is no longer a criminal. Plus it will help to fix the prison overpopulation problem by freeing prisoners who's only crime was using drugs on their own time. We NEED those cells reserved for people who don't deserve to be in the general public such as rapists, child molesters, murderers, etc.

Maser, i always enjoy your posts and threads here but i can't believe you just said such a thing, we are talking about Drugs on our streets, schools and everywhere else and you are worried about prison cells ? OMG!!! when it was criminal to take drugs, it was all over the place, easy access even kids can get it and now that it has taken such a turn what do you think will happen ? Demand and Supply. and how will you explain this to your kids ? how will you protect them ? don't you think the drug cartels are going to taken advantage of this ? the is 101% wrong

MA decriminalized the possession of MJ.

I guess they thought the supply was natural and just growing in the woods. They did allow for people to grow there own. My thinking is not everyone became a green thumb.

Now MA is allowing recreation MJ based on a voter approved referendum.

The pols didn't like missing their cut so they revised the voted on referendum and added about 20% to the proposed voter approved tax.

Does it take a genius to realize buying tax free from the non tax contributing seller is going to be promoted?

Legalize drugs, ban government.

The war on drugs is a failure.
Look at Singapore and Malaysia. Although their recidivism rate is VERY low, they still have drug users and dealers. They are extremely low profile, but they are there.

There is no easy solution, decriminalizing might be the way to go, but we should also stop giving these idiots free naxolene, ambulance rides and emergency medical treatment.
I have never known a drug addict to repay the taxpayer for self induced medical emergencies.
Most of them don't have insurance, and those that do have medicaid because they are "disabled".
Oddly enough, those disabilities don't prevent them from burglarizing homes and stealing from stores.

This is just too funny, the founders of this country will be highly disappointed. its like the Government will allow you do ehat ever you want so far you are paying tax, it donest take a genius to realize buying tax free from the non tax contributing seller is going to be promoted for sure.

Yes i see you realize that you one giant maze, healing one wound brings up another one. total eradication is the way to go. as tight as our borders are, drugs are still being smuggled here and there are still labs here, the only thing here is that the Government wants a piece of the pie and they don't care who gets hurt along the line.

Depends on how expensive and hard to get they are. There i always a black market for high demand, low supply items. Blaming drugs for crimes committed by black market selling criminals, is the same as blaming guns for a criminals crime. Does legalizing drugs make crime go away, no the bad ones don't want to work for their meal. They will populate in a sugar rich environment, and when the sugar is gone, they will steal the sugar made by the good ones.
