My new AXMC from Mile High came in today... oh how I cant wait to see how it does... did the Bartlein 27 inch heavy barrel upgrade to it in 300 win. Running a Silencerco Harvester 338 can, NF ATACR 7-35 and Harris bipod for now, and will be making some loads with the Hornady 225 ELD bullets over RL17 powder. The previous 300 Remington setup had no issues at 1 mile with 208s, so hoping this completely destroys it!

Ive been using the RL17 with my other win mag and had some spectacular results with 68 grains and 208 ELDs. I will have to weigh it, its a TANK with that barrel!

RL 17 was the only powder I could get good velocity out of my 18in 308. I can certainly see that 208eld zipping along nicely.

Thought id add some updates - currently still doing load development and running Hornady ELD 225s at 2900 fps. No real pressure signs on the brass, no hard extraction or heavy bolt, and cant force this thing to shoot over 1/2 MOA unless I pull the shot. I only had 10 rounds leftover from the load development so I put it out to 1100 yards real quick and went 10/10 for hits, which was to be expected from a setup like this. Going to push a little more and see if I can get 2925-2950 since im running the 27 inch barrel, but if it doesn't like it, I will back it off to 2900 and start mass producing ammo so I can take it out to a mile.

Words cant explain the quality that goes into this rifle, how easy it is to shoot, and how little fuss it puts up. I was really struggling to justify the cost of this rifle, but once youre behind it, you forget all about that.

Congrats on the awesome set up. Reloader 26 might get you the velocity you seek pretty easily.

I think I can get there with what im using, but since im running new Norma brass and heavier bullets than my last 300 win setup, im taking it slow and working up. The other issue is its only mid 70s here right now, and in the summer it will see 115+, so I don't want to go too extreme and have to change loads for half the year. Ive also been told the Bartlein barrels tend to "break in" and get faster after a couple hundred rounds... so far ive only got 75 through it.

“No issues at a mile” sounds like a great gun and I’m sure this one will be even better. Keep the updates coming

"no issues" is slightly deceiving... The largest issue I ran into with the previous rifle setup was I shoot in a valley and often the wind at 1 mile is completely different than where my shooting spot is, so to combat the limitations of the 24 inch barrel and wanting a heavier bullet, I figured this was the best answer. On low wind days id go 80% at 1 mile with the old rifle, on higher wind, id be happy at 50%, but typically it was a 3-5 in a row hit streak, then a few misses as wind shifted and I had to compensate. My 338 Lapua didn't see the same issues, as with the 300 gr stuff wasn't nearly as affected by the wind, but I found myself also pulling 1 out of 5 shots or flinching here and there with it, and I sold both rifles to afford the AXMC. I figure with that, and going from a 3/4-1 inch gun, to a pretty consistent 1/2 inch gun, it should be a wild time!

Arizona... home of tons of federal land, more gun stores than gas stations, and lots of in town long ranges!

I have some good videos in my other thread...

Awesome, and great shooting! I drive to Cali every year and go shooting in the central valley... Panoche Hills and Avenal, also a spot an hour outside Reno. I shot at the NRA Whittington Center last fall too. So much fun, and so much beauty in the desert

This is my main concern too. Shooting in AZ can sometimes cause some funny challenges.

That rifle looks pretty sweet. I keep going back and forth on selling a few rifles to fund one.

That's what I had to do... Safe looks a bit bare with near $13,000 in this rig including scope, can and accessories, but it shoots like a dream. While I enjoyed having a few rifles before, now that im just focusing on one main shooter (I have a Scar 17 I shoot as well, but it likes factory M80 Ball and didn't seem to pick up much with hand loads, so its easy), Im able to really play with different powders, seating depths, bullets, brass etc. Before I felt bad if I didn't rotate the rifles to my spot, and since I have to walk in, I really cant carry more than two at a time with all the gear.

I appreciate the insight. I planning to walk down this path myself.

I'm not doubting that it costs 13K? I'm more like, It costs 13K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Top notch build, Sir. The pinnacle.

If you had to do anything differently, what would it be?

Are you going to buy any other caliber conversions for this rifle?

honestly nothing at this time, its pretty well setup exactly how I want, and with everything I need on it. Just need more time to shoot it :)
