Bolt Lube?

Shooters Choice for me too, though next time i head to sportsman warehouse, I’m probably gonna try either the M-Pro 7 grease, or the Montana Xtreme to see how they compare.

Back of the lugs and cocking ramp with a little Tetra grease. Spray-on dry-lube for the rest if I am shooting a match.

It depends on the action too, a r700 might like more than a stainless custom. We don't deal with rust out here, but we get super dusty. Oil makes them smooth, but it get messy / gritty with dust.

Check out product called Jaymor’s 191s
One of my hunting clients showed me it this fall and man this stuff if flat out awesome, been using it on everything from gun stuff to construction stuff.

Like a few others have said, grease (any grease, grease is grease) on the bolt lugs, sear face, and the cocking ramp.

I don't believe the hype surrounding specialty gun lubricants. Synthetic motor oil and synthetic general purpose or bearing grease work just fine for pennies on the dollar.

And I definitely don't buy the hype surrounding "non-hazardous gun lubricants". Who the fuck puts coconut or vegetable oil on their guns?

I use CLP on everything. Haven't had any failures and everything works slick and silky so I'm not inclined to change anything. From AR's to revolvers and bolts...CCL pistols and everything. It all gets Beakfree CLP which evaporates and leaves and slicky rust proof film. Always wondered if I should use grease but I have no issues and a couple bottles of Breakfree so I'm set for Life.

I talked to Ted about it and he uses canola oil I think.

I use the ALG oil on bolt body and anything else for rust prevention. Then ALG thin grease for the lugs and rails. I use this combo in every firearm I won.

It works well but the oil is extremely thin and will run so I use very little oil and more of the grease.

Sometimes Tetra Grease, sometimes MC-25, which is what I use to lube BCG's.

My "everything but bore" cleaner is Odorless Paint Thinner (the blue quart can at the Wally world paints section) with healthy dab of Hoppe's Grease. Ends up doing the same thing as the CLP; especially good for overnight soaking carbon buildups and accumulated, dried out crud.

Bores get Hoppe's Foam.

I like Red Line or Mobil 1 synthetic grease, yeah the automotive stuff. A $10, 16 oz grease gun tube will last 100 years for gun applications. Or you could spend $10 on a .25 oz tube of specialty gun grease made from environmentally friendly amphibian turds.
