Curtis Vector Pre-order tomorrow

Lot's of good actions recently released, but I'm a little surprised this one hasn't gotten more attention.

It's a good action no doubt the Axiom has proven Chase and Co. make a great action. It's just more or less more of the same with a few additions. AW cut, integral lug, and integral rail. That's probably why it's not blowing up like the Axiom did. However if you want a 3-lug i'd not hesitate.

I just thought, with the current trend for switch barrel systems, that the first custom action to use an AI style quick barrel change system would have gotten more attention.

Guess it goes to show how well I understand the current market...

It probably did just depends on what you want. Seems and i feel this way also that the market has started trending to different features. In the last year or so CRF and Mechanical ejection has been the new hotness especially with the reintroduction of short fat cartridges like the 6mm BR, Dasher, BRX, etc.

I'd probably have an Axiom or Vector if they would incorporate a swept bolt handle like the tempest.

Yes, very similar to AI AT's barrel change system

I'm just now seeing what looks like the inclusion of a type switch allen key built into the integral lug for the Vector. Very interesting to see how it turns out, that would be a huge leg up for a competitor looking for a 60 degree 3-lug. He adds changeable bolt heads in a revision and a swept bolt handle idk that id want anything else ha.

It's simple. You have your smith make the tenon to spec, screw on the barrel on snug by hand, tighten the set screws to 25 in lbs. I'm sure Alamo Precision and others will be offering prefits in the future. It's still a shouldered barrel tenon, so no remage/savage style barrel nut, and you still have the option of torqueing the barrel on should you not wish to use the quick change feature.

I also ordered. Sending the action to Masterpiece Arms to construct a race PRS gun. I'm getting 6mm CM and .224 V. Now I'm wondering about 6.5 PRC! This is going to be an exciting rifle.

I have one of these ordered and will have all my parts with in another week for the build. I will be using a Remington varmint contour barrel and will have the 6.5 Broughton chambered up in 6.5 Creedmoor and the Krieger that is out for fluting will be a 22-250 8 twist. I have a McMillan A5 Artic White carbon ambush with butt spacers and adjustable cheek, Badger M5 Enhanced, jewell trigger and the above barrels ready to roll when the action comes. A new Nightforce ATACR 4-16 should be arriving any day that I will use for it.

That switch barrel system looks pretty slick. I don’t see anywhere how easy it is to swap bolt heads or if you have to buy a new bolt. A fast little 6mm for comps as well a 6.5mm and/or 7mm SAUM sure would cover just about everything I’d ever want to do with a bolt rifle and only have to have one stock, trigger, optic etc.... especially with something like the new MPA hybrid chassis where you can make it lighter or heavier really easily.

Yes your smith could do that, but it sounds like some guys are getting barrels spun before they have the action in hand and I’m just wondering if that’s going to bite them or if these actions have the tolerance consistency of a Bighorn?

Couldn't your gunsmith keep your action measurements on file and just thread/chamber the barrels you send him?I'd like to know the answer to your question as well.

They will hold the same tolerances as the Axiom. I've got two of those and do my own barrel work and my two Axiom are dead nuts identical from the tenon measurement to bolt face measurements. They are also selling complete bolts for $275, .224 Valkyrie, .223 and magnum bolts.

We have closed the pre-order for the Vector. Thank you to those that ordered!

If anyone has any questions regarding the Axiom or Vector, feel free to call me. If I don’t pick up, leave a message and I’ll get right back to you.

Ok that is encouraging, but only a sample of 2.
