I have a new spotting scope and old tripod. I would like to get a tripod that could be dual purpose. I have looked at Silk,Bushnell and Vortex. I would like the cost to be around$100. Any suggestions on a model?

I use the u shaped yoke for shootin and the switcherroo with ball head for my 15x bincos. I have the 3/4 ht model and do most of my shooting from the sit as you have to usually go over sagebrush.(hunting) I also have used a hex wrench to take legs off (2) to have walking sticks when packing. for prs my model is a bit to short for standing but everything else including support for the rear of the rifle when on a barracade works.

Appears built like a tank but expensive only because of the accessory heads. Is it that much more solid than the Bog Pod? I am not a hardcore PRS shooter. I mostly shoot at home with the occasional match. I know the old buy once cry once but is it going to serve me better?

Might be too ghetto for some: I bought a tripod with a head that accepts a mounting plate, then bought an extra mounting plate. I took some AL, formed a channel, secured the mounting plate to the bottom, cut to fit some sleeping pad mat for the 3 sides of the channel, and covered it in 100 mph tape. Lastly I drilled a hole in a top corner, ran a loop of 550 cord, and attach it to my ruck via carabiner.

I think I am into it $15.00 and an hour of fab time. Been using it for @ 7 yrs.

it can accept any tripod. it's very sturdy. personally i wouldn't want to shoot an expensive rifle off of a cheep, flimsy tripod but that is just me. I also didn't want to spend $1000 on a RRS so this fit the bill and has worked perfectly.

The RRS is about as dual purpose as you can get!
