Jezus Fucking Christ

The fire was at the Meridian Magnesium Products of America plant in Eaton Rapids, Michigan, on May 2. The plant supplies other automakers as well, but so far only one — Fiat Chrysler(FCAU) — has reported an impact on production.

They Supply parts for instrument clusters. Nothing to Do with FOMOCO themselves.

I'd have been glad if this supply chain SNAFU happened to the Dodge 2500 or 3500 series trucks....POS's catching on fire, rear ends locking up, on 80,000 dollar vehicles.... comparatively, the F-series as of late have been some pretty impressive machines and all the guys running them love them. Great trucks. All the new F-series.

I rather like my ram 2500. 125k nearly trouble free miles so far. Sure beats my last 2500 Chevy that was all of 4 mpg towing and couldn't keep a transmission in it. My 2006 f250 was a good truck after removing all the emissions bs though.

Wow. I'm sure a few people here could say a thing or two about magnesium fires. There's process's involved for machining and whatnot, and believe me when I tell you, if you happen to 'catch some on fire' it better have been on purpose.

Apparently, the above shows that theirs wasn't. Or that's one hell of a Jewish Lightning-bolt.

We had a Magnesium fire at one of my plants and it was the one of the ugliest fire I ever saw. Fortunately, it was out in a scrap yard where a well meaning engineer ordered wiper test bucks to be cut up and scrapped by maintenance not realizing they were made of magnesium.

I'm talking about the 2017 3500 in particular. Had a new one at the construyction yard. It had a rear end rebuilt, and then the engine bay caught fire. Wtf, over? not even 20,000 on the odo. Apparantly its rather common with them of that year.

We are on the edge of having a mils vs moa thread. Little more oxygen is all we need.
I’m going to design a reticle that puts the debate to an end.....the Miloa.... I will combine both reticles into one.... thereby killing the debate and becoming the master of the multiverse!!! DO NOT DOUBT MY POWA!!!!!!!

Leupold built those for years (almost). Mil ret with MOA turrets. Don’t muddy the water with your new fangled design. ?

I was at a party where they burned a VW beetle block. Every body was standing about 50 yards away shortly after it lit. It was like staring at the bead when you weld. After it was done the sand was melted together where it was sitting. And that is only 30-40 lbs.

Not to stiffle the ford-chevy-dodge part of the thread BUT......

Jr High metal shop we had a foundry. A room made for fire. We did metal casting. Always aluminum.
Well one shippment came and it ended up being Magnesium. 1 pound burned for A long time. i believe a fire crew spent the night while it burned itself out. It was 35 years ago so I might be off just a bit (maybe it was 2 pounds).

There is a very simple and rather inexpensive solution for trucks that tow a lot if someone is worried about it squatting. Put an airbag system on it with a leveling system and onboard compressor.
