Guys, I'm learning how to run the Kestrel and I made my profiles using the AB curve. What i'm seeing is for my 175 .308 my BC should be a .4 lets say for my wind calls. Using the easy way that Hodnett teaches, and what Frank and Mike spoke about.

I did some messing with my kestrel and its saying my wind calls are about half or less than what they should be. Lets say, 1750 with 4mph wind out of the 3 o clock its calling for 1.34 mil correction...............................

What am I doing wrong? I've trued the gun using CRUSH. Should I just stop using the AB profiles? I've heard so many mixed reviews on the AB profiles...

Could be your compass is not holding calibration. I am having to recalibrate my compass every time I turn it on. If the compass isn't calibrated, wind calls will be off.

Okay, I don't know what happened. I turned my unit back on and it wanted 157 mils for elevation.

I reset the whole thing, (it updated today) It lines up with 4dof wind by .3 mils and 1.0 mils for elevation.

I'll retrue everything up and report back.

Its making more sense now so i'm not sure what happened.

To me the wind hold seems wrong. Shouldn't it be more around 1.8?

Is this just an academic exercise, or are you really wanting to shoot 1750 yards with a 1/12 twist 308?

Same here. I’m thinking of just using it with the geoballistics app and guessing my wind. I did find that I had to loosen the star screw on the wind vane and it was better. The kestrel is killing me for wind calls. Im not that good at wind as is and it’s mking me question everything
On a side note I am selling some .308 reloading components if you are interested dies brass bullets

You’re running 2720 mv which pushes your wind bracket to a 5 mph

Your wind would be 2.4 at 1750 based on a 3600 ft DA

Process:
Go into environment and turn off Spin drift and set latitude to 0 so you get a pure wind bracket

Set range to 500 yards

Set wind direction to 3:00 or 9:00

Increase your wind until your wind = .5 at 500

That will give you a wind bracket That’s BC agnostic
