Remage build questions

Time for a Saturday morning dumb question thread. I've been researching custom actions and barrels for the inevitable replacement of my Remington 700 5R barreled action. I really like the promise of armorer level barrel replacement with something that is Remington 700 patterned. That said, my reading and research has brought me to a point of confusion.

What specifically do I need to look at for thread pitch on an action and barrel and barrel nut to accomplish what is know as a Remange?

Is there an article that has a laundry list of specific parts? (action, recoil lug, barrel, barrel nut, nut wrench, go/no-go gauges)

I'm leaning towards ordering a Gunworks action and Carbon Six barrel, but, from my understanding, the Gunworks action has a thread pitch that is non-standard thus not Remage compatible (???).

Someone please nudge me in the correct direction before I order and wait for months, for the wrong thing.

Thanks all.

Remington actions are threaded 1-1/16 x 16 tpi. So any prefits with those dims will work.

You’ll need a good and go/no go gauge based on selected caliber. You’ll need a way hold either the barrel or action in place as you torque up the barrel nut. And lastly you’re going to need a barrel nut wrench.

If you like the idea of having options, go with something threaded for Savage small shank bbls.

Everything else is just painting you into a corner.
At this point in time there are a bunch of Remington barrel nut barrels. The only major pre-fit maker that doesn't make Rem/Age pre-fits, as far as I know, is Shilen. Bugholes makes them, Criterion makes them, and so does PVA.

I have a Criterion remage and I love it. I haven't done any barrel swapping as this is still the first barrel, but I am very happy with how it shoots. That said, I have a Rem 700 action. When I bought the barrel, I was told by Northland Shooters Supply not to have a gunsmith true the receiver threads, as that could cause the Criterion barrel threads to be too loose in the action. I had a gunsmith pull the factory barrel, true the receiver face, and lap the lugs. Averages 0.4" or less with my best handload at 100.

How many custom actions are threaded for Remage though?

I think defiance uses the same thread pitch, but they offer so many different bolt nose options some may or may not be compatible with Remington prefits. E.G. coned bolt nose wouldn’t work with a standard remage prefit.

Most of them, actually. Most custom actions use Remington thread pitch and size. Defiance, Lone Peak, Curtis, Impact Precision, Surgeon, etc.

All of those, and more, use the fairly standard 1 1/16" x 16 TPI threads on the action. ARC uses the Savage thread pitch for their Mausingfield and Nucleus, but just about everyone else uses the Remington thread pitch.
