- Range: 10 to 3000 yd (10 to 2742m)
I got a chance to compare them to Vectronix 25C.Vectronix 25C is definitely better but Leica was holding sholder to sholder to about 2500 yards. Furthest I could range with HD-B was 3094 yards at a tree line. On a still they were good to 2000 yard . Sometimes it took me couple presses of button to get a range but it was always within few yards compared to Vectronix. Got a range on a whitetail doe at 2094 yards repeatedly and Vectronix was reading 2092 yards on the same doe. All ranging was done on sunny day around 12 o’clock. Also ballistic solutions is dead on to 1000 yards verified with kestrel 5700 and live fire.Have you personally had these out in the field for a real evaluation? I'm interested but I don't want to hear the company line on performance, I want to hear real world experiances on steel out to 2,000 yards?
Do you have a link to that forum. Thank youWaiting on mine. I have read on a hunting forum the new Leicas HD-B 3000's are awesome and outperforming his new Terrapins.
There are two options I’m looking into:I had the original Leica Hd-b and I have swarovski. They give a different view because of the coatings. Both are alpha all the way. You aren't missing anything with the Leica Hd-b in my opinion.
I took them out the other night and the Leicas ranged trees, leaves, grass and rocks out to 3k easily. It was bright and hazy out (85 degrees, high humidity). The Terrapin x struggled past 1800 on everything. I only got one return at 2900 while I was holding them on scan mode. So far the Leicas are ranging awesome. We are going to get down to our long range hunting spot this week with The Terrapin X, PLRF10, and the Leica 3000's for a side by side comparison of all 3.
There are two options I’m looking into:
1. Leica hd-b 3000, (all in one package), 5yr warranty
Or
2. Swarovski el swarovision with Leica crf 2700B, (more expensive and two items to carry), 30yr warranty.
Guys please guide me to a right direction. Thank you
What Leica binoculars do you have/use?I been carrying Leica bino's, Terrapin's and a Kestrel. I too looking to eliminate some gear. I'm also reading that the ballistic function with the new Leicas are matching up with shooters Kestrels. I know I wont be able to leave the Kestrel at home, but possibly if conditions allow, maybe I wont have to use it.
How is the glass on these, optical quality?[/QUOT . In my opinion it is phenomenal, I don’t think you can get any better glass than Leica HD-B. Really like their colour contrast and resolution. When you glassing for animals they really pop out in HD-B’s doesn’t matter if they are in a shade or in some sunlight.
No worries, you are welcome. I didn’t compare them with Swarovski. Compared them with Zeiss Victory and Vortex HD and to my eyes Leica just seemed to have better resolution and contrast.Thank you for your input. By any chance have you compared them to other top tier binoculars like Swarovski or Zeiss?
Thank you muchNo worries, you are welcome. I didn’t compare them with Swarovski. Compared them with Zeiss Victory and Vortex HD and to my eyes Leica just seemed to have better resolution and contrast.
How do you like them?I'm using the Trinovid 10x42 HD
How do you like them?
Are the leica hd b 3000 better than terrapin-x?
Yes, I have noticed that as well. Also my laser beam is in top half of the circle so if I want to measure something really small at a distance I’m making sure to precisely align top half of circle with target and then it works every time.Only negative from my friend is the ranging circle is a bit large ranging small animals at 2000 yards. Likely, the average hunter using the new Leica's at typical hunting distances wont be affected by this.
Last weekend I had a chance to compare Vectronix X with Leica HD-B 3000 and they were the same to the furthest target that we have at a 1 mile. It was reading same yardage on the 100% IPSC and 66% IPSC steel targets.Any new reports?
The reticle is smaller on the 3000. I’d say it fits inside the square reticle of the 2700.Is the reticle really larger in the leica hd-b 3000 compared to the cfr 2700b ? Or does it appear larger because of the power difference?
Oh Boy, My mistake. I was comparing my earlier Leicas HD-Bs to my HD-3000 Leicas. Earlier post corrected. The CFR 2700B doesn't have a square reticle it has a circle reticle .
