So tell me which policy did Obama put in place that caused a 40% increase in the market. Because no matter how you slice it they are polar opposites. So one either hurt and one helped because they couldn’t have done both when they are so different.

The economy is doing well in spite of Trump and because the "DEEP STATE" or whatever has been able to deflect his worst impulses so that his actions are basically a generic Republican President.
It was also doing well under Obama even though Republicans loudly insisted that it wasn't because that would mean giving some credit to the articulate black man.
Every time Trump wants to do something really destructive the adults in the room stop him from doing so. Like Gary Cohn just removing the NAFTA withdrawal from his desk. Or Mattis just disobeying an order to go kill Assad. It took from 2008 to 2013 for the Dow to recover to pre recession levels at 14,000. By 2015 it was up 4,000 to 18,000 then almost two years later on the election night it was still 18,000 so almost two years with stagnant growth. So for Obama’s second term the average growth was 1,000 per year.
However since Trump was elected the Dow has gone up 8,000 to top out around 26,000 or roughly 4,000 per year and it still keeps going up. Obama managed 4,000 point growth only for his first year when it was literally rock bottom with nowhere to go but up.
Same with unemployment, it took until 2015 to reach pre recession levels before stagnating until the election at which point it dropped almost a full percent in roughly a year.
Unless you wish to really out yourself as a mindless Communist mouthpiece, you might want to put away the stupid idiotic racist talking points that you have been handed by the Democrats/Communists.

I recall a time past when a major nation had to drain its swamp. It was the French Revolution. A. Obama killed the traditional economy. He printed money than created a lack of investment alternatives.
Traditionally people would invest in secure interest paying savings. I was rebuilding my house circa 2006-2007 and with my loan in the bank returning 6% at ING I used the interest to buy a lot of home fixtures. Post 2008 collapse Obama gave a wet kiss to Wall Street. Interest rates went to zero. Wall Street became the ONLY investment opportunity. Businesses did not invest in their businesses - they were not hiring because of ObamaCare and they also played the stock market, quantitative easing provided free money to roll into Wall Street, Fat cats got fatter. Common man got heroin and an EBT.
B. Unemployment under Obama was falsely reflected. People simply left the work force. They were not counted as unemployed because they gave up seeking employment. Companies were not hiring, not wanting the Ocare liability. Now these people are actually coming back in to the work force and having their independence restored.
Why dont you dig up the chart showing the food stamp/public assistance roles and show the story they tell.

You are delusional on the economy. "The economy is doing well in spite of Trump". The basis for that statement is either emotional or political. You cannot look at the current economic data and honestly say that Obama had anything to do with the current economic trajectory. Under Obama the stock market had flattened out, GDP had flattened and the general feel was not positive. Under Obama there were some jobs added to the economy, but for the most part they were unskilled, low paying labor. Also under Obama, entitlement grew at the fastest rate in our history - that is counter to an economy that is doing well.

The NYT time needed this story on Trump . Desperately so. They have been so dead assed wrong about Trump (economics, North Korea, gay rights, etc.) that they were willing to publish anything anyone said. This is not an indictment of the veracity of the story. If history is any indicator the source will be revealed. What I am saying is that this is not journalism.
I see only 3 possible reasons for the article, none of them journalistic:
1. Someone leaking information for self-serving reasons
2. The NYT and/or the source using this as a platform to float or sink a policy balloon

The Obama administration added approximately 30 billion A Month to the market during quantitative easing, which by the way is an idiotic name for an idiotic economic idea. On bbbb's chart, of course it went up. 30 billion a month should do something. The surprise was it didn't go up faster.
Also left off bbbb's charts is when the quantitative easing stopped.
The previous administration needed 30 billion a month to show some gain, this one needed none.
The charts are basically useless. No references of data other than raw numbers.

You cannot have a legitimate comparison between "massaged numbers"(not counting those "not employed but not seeking work")and data that includes that.
My experience with communists is that its best to keep them from growing up any further than they already have, Just plant them.
