I am trying to figure out the differences between the T4A and PRS-1 - specifically, the dimensions/shape of the foreends. On the web site, it appears that the T4A has a fairly wide, flat bottom on the foreend but don't see a picture that shows the PRS-1 form the bottom side. It does appear that the PRS-1 is smaller (when viewed from the side) near the front than the T4A, which could be advantageous when shooting through small ports in barricades, etc. but if it doesn't have a fairly wide flat area toward the front, I might be better off with the T4A? Can anyone provide insight and/or pros & cons from a PRS perspective?

Thanks,
Stephen Culpepper

The PRs1 is flat on the bottom from the tip all the way to the mag, if I’m not mistaken the T4 is only flat on the bottom prolly the last 7” towards the tip, if you’re gonna run any type of rail system you will need the prs1, in fact I would prefer the prs1 over a T4 any day, but that’s JMO

I have a T4A and will soon have a PRS2. If you want to put an ARCA rail onto the T4, you'll have to drill additional T-nuts into the forend to get the rail to sit flush due to the angle of the stock close to the DBM. I've done it and the ARCA sits slightly further forward. It's not an issue, but I have noticed a slight amount of flex when tilting the rifle. Both will obviously work for PRS if you just run a bipod and bag and don't bother with the ARCA.

Thanks! Very good information - the stuff you can't get by looking at pictures! I did not realize that the angle change on the bottom of the T4A was actually slightly forward of the bottom metal area. I am thinking about the Area 419 ARCA lock rail system so that is definitely a consideration...

Maybe my T-4A is different? I have the Henderson Precision https://www.hendersonprecision.com/shop 12" 1.5 Dove Tail mounted with to the integrated RSR M-lock and using a Badger Enhanced bottom metal. I could have slid the 12" rail to touch the Badger, but I wanted to be able to remove the bottome metal if needed so I stopped just at the bottom metal and didn't cover the action screws

I see were it is mentioned if you run a bag and bipod don't bother.. BUT there are times where a RRS type rail really matters. An example might be on a reduced footprint area where you are asked to run "one bag only" and that bag is best served and used somewhere other than under the forend or a funky prop is best addressed with the bipod slid back to deal with recoil acting like a barricade block/stop (if your not running a 6mm in a 20 gun that is).

It is actually my pig hunting gun (thats why the bolt handle is kept small) but double as an extra match or loaner gun if needed..

Images below: Bipod is only folded back, because thats how it fits in my bag the easiest -

That’s a good looking little rig mate. Yeah I run one of the Area 419 rails and the issue is due to where the tail end of the rail attaches to the stock using an action screw. I like that rail you have there though, I might look for one and throw the current one onto the PRS2 when it turns up.

The way they designed it the system is very light and flexible forward and aft.

I know if you’re running a 6 mm on a 25 pound gun no one cares about how light it is. This one’s a hunting gun doing overtime as a loaner for matches. Although, if I do the Hide Cup again this year, I’ll probably shoot this one.

The T4A also has a wider foreend than the PRS-1. 2.5" and 2", respectively
Thanks - wish they had dimensions listed on their web site so I wouldn't have to ask dumb questions but certainly appreciate the info! I am sure I am not the first person looking for this kind of stuff (which is why I did a search before I asked but didn't come up with anything useful) so I apologize if you are repeating yourself to a newbie...

Maybe the Badger Enhanced bottom metal with an Area 419 ARCA lock rail that doesn't have the barricade stop built in would work? BTW, nice looking pig killer there Diver!

It's a tikka action using the CTR DBM. The issue is when you attach the Area 419 ARCA to the forward action screw, there is a gap between the stock and the rail

They have a "Tech Specs" tab at the top of their home page. Click that and it's got dimensions for most of their stocks. That's where I pulled my information from.
