I’m looking to buy a 338 lapua rifle and suppressor. I’m considering Desert Tech, McMillan, Surgeon, and Accuracy International for the rifle. I’m leaning towards desert tech because the also make suppressors specifically designed for their rifles. Are there any other companies I should consider for rifles? And what suppressors are people pairing with their 338s?

There’s only one answer you’ll get from this crowd...

My stamp for a Crux ArchAngel 338 was approved 10/25. Its for a PCR 338 Norma.

If I had to choose another I’d try an AWC PSR XL or a KGMade Rogue 338.

One of the things I like about my 338 Ultra is being about to shoot other smaller calibers through it. Here is my 338 Ultra and 300 Whisper/Blackout ammo with Berger 230s. Working the bolt makes more noise than the gun going off. You can hear the steel ringing in the background between shots.

I shoot a big bore harvester and it has exceeded my expectations. Just took my 20" 338 LM axmc to a mile with it yesterday and got several hits. Sounds good on my 6.5 creed too. It is not titanium like the 338 ultra though and depending on your surroundings, the big bore anchor brake directs sound back to the shooter. In the open desert its killer, deep in the woods, not so much.

If I had to do it over again, I might have gotten the 338 ultra if I didn't already have several silencerco cans because everyone I have shot next too sounds great.

Here is some actual test data of amounts of powder being used along with velocities too.
