As someone who only knew of Gen. Mattis but from memes about how much of a badass he was, his tenure as SecDef did leave me wanting. He did stand up at the beginning (can’t remember exactly what the situation was), but I never really saw the cowboy/badass everyone puffed him up to be.
I’m thankful for everything he did/said before he took the position as SecDef (if it was true and not lore), but all in all, I was left wanting.

As far as every shit hole in the world, I'm against "regime change." We do not have the resources, nor the wisdom, to pick the "winners and losers" every time. I believe that we should be an example, help when we can, but let other nations and peoples choose their own destiny.

I keep in mind WWII was brought forth through the US staying, at least militarily, too far out of world affairs while FDR committed his socialistic conversion of the US economy and government. Today, we have an electorate that wanted a President who actually puts them first instead of Europe and China. The President is the CinC, and SecDef takes his orders from him.
