Scar 17 in 6.5 Creedmore

I dont think such a thing exists. It would sure be great if we could get aftermarket barrels for the SCAR. Imagine a 308 barrel with a 1:10 twist.... or a Scar 20S barrel in 6.5 Creedmoor. Does anyone know of such an aftermarket option?

It can be done, but the barrel trunnion and gas system are proprietary. Forget where, but I saw a fella cannibalize his originally-fitted .308 barrel to get the trunnion/barrel extension and gas system. He then had an aftermarket barrel made to fit the components (either turned the blank himself or had it threaded and countered as needed) and then affixed the gas system to the barrel to get it running again. He was a handy fella.

They were in stock just the other week. https://www.handldefense.com/product/65-creedmoor-barrel-assembly/

Deadshot can make one cannabilizing your .308 gas block or give you a complete assembly. https://deadshotbarrels.com/scar-rebarreling

HDD doesn't have the greatest of reputations but ... https://hi-desertdog.com/fnh-scar-1...scar-17-6-5-creedmore-21-barrel-assembly.html http://www.snipershide.com/shooting/threads/scar17-to-creedmoor-or-not.216791/

I've thought about switching my scar but i'd rather wait another six years for OEM components. I have no idea as to accuracy or reliability for any of these.

You could ask this guy, he says his was sub moa. https://www.northwestfirearms.com/t...nd-vortex-pst-gen-ii-3-15x44-ffp-more.277434/

What would be the draw of the 6.5 creedmoor clambering in a scar? I don’t own one so I am curious. For the rifle type, I would take advantage of the surplus Ammo at 40 cents a pop and just bang steel at reasonable distance. Not every rifle needs to be benched? Am I off on this thinking?

SCAR is a multifunctional tool. Throw a 1-8 optic on top and depending on mission you could run a 13 inch barrel or 20inch barrel and be good from 0 to 800+ yards. The Scar 20 would be ideal for 6.5cm. But the whole purpose was that you could swap assemblies with the SCAR for user maintenance etc. SCAR's are generally considered 1 moa guns.

yep agreed, I see no need to put a 6.5 on my scar.. After running a half dozen optics on my scar, I found that an acog with rmr was the best fit. That means hitting steel at 500 yards, and speed shooting at close range with m80.
Now if we are talking about the 20s, I would def want that in a 6.5.
