Pondering the notion that some (mostly all) states are controlled by the major cities located therein, I was contemplating what would happen if the major cities were arbitrarily declared independent of the surrounding state (ie Baltimore is no longer part of Maryland and has no influence therein. It becomes its own independent state). What would happen at the local and federal level.

IL has had a big push recently from down state IL residents to make Chicago a separate state. The new governor has introduced a ton of anti-2A bills and is really screwing things up. I don't think it will actually end up happening but it gets more support everyday.

That's one I'd have to think on.

To keep it short, I fear we'll have to have either a civil war or a revolution in this country in order to affect any real change at this point. Power is dug in and it no longer respects our rights. We probably have a totalitarian govt. already, we're just in denial. But when you look at how it operates, how it functions, it's very much like a total control regime that has first say in ever facet of your life.

And it keeps growing, and growing, and growing...

Hell, to get it going all that need be happen is China just demand payment. Boom. We get an F rating and drop down to the bottom of yet another list. Or a solar storm on par with the Carrington Event. Could be anything big. This house of cards can't stand a hard blow.

Each new "city state" would get two senators and suck the congressional representation away from its former state.

Have to do the math to see what the political impact would be.

Adding liberal reps is why the Dems push PR statehood, representation for DC and discussed making Cali three states under there gerrymandered state lines.

Strengthen the idea of the Electoral College.

You would get the Italian peninsula in the time of Machiavelli and Europe at it's most screwed up in the middle ages. Every shithole city would have an army of mongrels wandering the outlying areas robbing and stealing and exploiting the masses to feed, cloth and power itself. Where do you think the 12,000,000 dregs in New York city get food, water, power and most of their goods and services? If you try and starve them, the cockroaches will move to your town. Let's leave well enough alone and start voting every election already.

It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace. Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is farmed receives the blessing of God. But land that produces thorns and thistles is worthless and is in danger of being cursed. In the end it will be burned.

Just sayin’.... a burnin’ is a commin’

There is a Bill in Illinois to turn Chicago into it's own State so the Rest of Illinois can survive making Chicago stand on it's own two feet. That way Chicago Politics and Politicians could have their way and the rest of the State could function.

It'll never happen but it's a positive Dream anyway.

    VooDoo

Only Texas has the ability to do that. It's part of their constitution that they can break into 5 smaller states.

Very true... and it wouldn't be that hard to pull off. There are three major power grids in the CONUS - Eastern, Western and Texas. It is indeed by design.

Although we would definitely get invaded as we have the oil. We all know how that goes.

As far as the cities turning into their own States I think most people wouldn't mind that. It's the same idea that the Dems touted against the electoral college. What these generally blue dots don't realize is that they don't produce a damn thing that can truly sustain a population other than metro-revenue. Just depends how crooked the government in said city is.

Why in the hell would we want to give Chicago 2 senators?

a few months back i heard of a push in california to form a new state....”new california”. same reasoning. it makes sense to me. i’d love to see these cities stand on their own without sucking the tax dollars from the rest of the state; while inflicting their stupidity on the rest of the state.

as far as roaming bands of coachroaches stealing and plundering? that wouldnt last very long.

The way they gerrymandered the "new California" states it would have meant 6 new liberal senators and a shit ton of new liberal congress people.

    We dont need new states.

We just need to put teeth back into the Constitution and our laws.

Any state can do it, but it must go through the House and Senate. It would also give Democrats two more senators for every city. And what about the states like CA with multiple big cities. Will they all break into 3 or 4 separate states. Giving them 6 or 8 more senators, just from Cali. People need to think shit like this through. Its not about isolating ourselves from them. Its about making sure the constitution protects us from the tyranny of the masses.

These ideas look good but I have to wonder where we would stop. Where I live in NY would be a far better if not attached to the political albatross of NYC. Yet instead of splitting into two states why not make each household a state. Thus my house and yours could each have two Senators and a Representative. When you continue to this absurd conclusion you can see the idea falter. Indeed splitting states is but a step toward dissolving our Republic into a Democracy.
