Hello,
I'm a long time lurker but a new user. I've been interested in PRS and there is a club in my state. I'm hoping to gain more insight into my first precision rifle choice. The main question for me is Custom vs Accuracy International. I hope to gather more information from users and the site's sponsors and opinions to help me make the best choice, since I don't have first had access to these rifles. There is a long range rifle school in Tennessee that I would like to attend this year. I hope to also gather tips for how to get the most out of that class. Please bear with all my questions. Thanks.

I am up in Shreveport/Bossier City. We have a 1000 yards range here and competitions pretty regularly. What you shootings?
Is that Long Range Ally? I've been shooting my 20" AR with a muzzle brake. We have a public 900 yard range and also a 350 range within an hour drive. For the 900 range, I'd like to step up a level in performance. I'm in the market for a dedicated long range rifle, it's going to be a 6.5 CM.

Welcome aboard man. I live in Bossier City, and shoot at long range alley.

I also shoot the PRS style matches at Prince and in Leesville. Let me know if I can help in any way.

I’m still shopping around for a rifle, but I would like to come see a match or maybe even RO. I think I’m going to use FTS to practice shooting at the distances the match requires. I don’t have a membership to Palo Alto and I’d have to confirm my rifle at 600, which I could also practice at FTS.

Welcome from North Carolina, the patron state for shooting $hit.

If you plan to buy once and cry once Accuracy International is a no brainer...I have a GA Precision built .308 with a badger action and 24” Bartlein tube that I wouldn’t trade for any of those high dollar AIs.

Also, if you’re not reloading then a .308 is a good option out to 1000 yards with lots of retail match grade ammo available to get you there and if you are reloading and 1000 yards is far enough then IMHO the .308 tactical division gives you something to shoot for?

I’ve called GAP a few times and left VM no response, but there are other builders out there who are great. How are customs as far as reliability? It seems like moving in stages in PRS exposes to more dirt and debris than a square range bench.

Yep, all the good custom shops are shooting fish in a barrel these days it seems.

The first time and last time I ever put my rifle in the dirt I got a good rap on the head and wouldn’t no about dirt and debris cuz I’ll never do that again...

Next match in Leesville is Apr 27th. Come check it out. Check out West Louisiana Precision Rifle if you’re on Facebook.

Next one at Prince (NE Louisiana) is May 11th. Their group is LPRC on Facebook

If you shoot long distance at long range ally I am sure we know each other

Maybe so. I’ve never shot one of Rick’s matches yet. I’m usually out there at sunrise on the weekends so I can shoot at any distance I want. It’s been awhile since we just had kid #2 a few months ago.
