What would be the better option... buying a origin barreled action, trigger, stock or going with seeking havak pro/ John Hancock finished rifle? I’m looking at shooting steel out to 600-1000 yards and hunting mid size game?

With so many options I’m spinning my wheels on this research. It seems they are all good options. I want something I won’t be kicking myself down the road and paid the extra. I’m fairly new to long range and precision shooting.

I'd do(and have done) a home build with a barreled action. You'll have it in your hands sooner and you'll get exactly what you want too.

Budget $2200-2500...the use would be to hit steel in the off season and hunt during season. I just had a 28nosler built for long range, but would rather not burn the barrel up hitting steel all year.... devils advocate could be, save the money on a new rifle and shoot the hell out of the barrel and spin a new one on. Buttttt a new toy seems like fun too.

Judging by all the threads in the forum, I'd say your primary consideration should be time. If I order A vs B, when am I actually going to get that rifle? You don't want to be thinking that you will be shooting steel all year, only to be waiting all year.

MPA Barreled actions are worth looking into or their complete rifles too. There built on Curtis Custom Axiom Actions, Trigger Tech Triggers and whichever barrel contour you prefer. They guarantee 3/8 MOA, There are tons of options and they will built it how you want. We can help with pricing and questions!

@Bender what would you suggest for a better budget friendly build?
Budget is subjective, a barreled action in a chassis is pretty hard to beat. A custom barrel in a Ruger RPR is an option, heck, a factory RPR shoots amazing. If I had the money, personally, I would do a full custom LRI in a .224 Valkyrie or 6.5 CM. It would be built as good or better than anything, look absolutely amazing, and be done in a couple weeks.

But that’s just me.

Bighorn origin with a criterion barrel probably puts you into the shortest lead times, if that matters. When I ordered my criterion from NSS they had it on the self, a week or so. Big horn has been pumping out the origins as per the thread on that, might be able to get an action and screw it together in under a month. I'm pretty happy with my Origin and criterion barrel and when its shot out I only need another $375/a week's wait for another threaded barrel and I'm good to go again.

Are MPA long action builds available? I'm currently tossing up whether to order a lone peak fuzion for a build or just grab a Curtis axiom long action with a switchlug if that's a possibility?

Look into Alamo Precision Rifles as well.

The MPA PMR production rifle would be my preference. MPA chassis, Curtis Custom action, and a TriggerTech Special for under $2,000 (and supposedly people with a PRS membership - club or national - will get a discount code for all MPA items) is a pretty hard thing to beat. You'd be hard pressed to build a similar rig for less, anyways.
