“Benchmade is aware of the recent post from our local Oregon City Police Department.


We apologize for the confusion and concern that this post created. These were firearms that the Oregon City Police Department had to destroy in alignment with their policies. Oregon City Police requested the use of specialty equipment within the Benchmade facility to follow these requirements, and as a supporting partner of our local police force, we obliged the request.


Benchmade is a proud and unwavering supporter of both law enforcement and Second Amendment rights. These are commitments that we do not take lightly and will continue to support well into the future.


When asked for clarity from Oregon City Police Department, Chief Jim Band made the following statement: “When property is to be destroyed, it is the policy of the Oregon City Police Department to destroy property, including firearms, in accordance to our procedures and ORS. The Oregon City Police Department does not sell firearms.”

Blood boiling here. And, I'm a civvie.

I travel a lot and I spend a lot of money on hotels, meals, etc. If I were in that hotel manager's position, I would have been turfed, ex poste haste.

How is it that the two jackwads that apparently pulled this off ever got that far ?

If I had been staying there, I would have taken a picture of that, walked up to the front desk, showed it to them and checked the fuck out.

I don't think checking out of the hotel would have done any good, the shitbags might have even felt empowered by having people react to their douchebaggerie. In the end the shitbags got fired and are probably serving lattes at Starbucks or Slurpee's at 7-11 now.

Yeah, but it's the principal of the whole thing. It may not have made any difference to them, but it would to me. I stay primarily at Marriotts and they would have been climbing all over me to get me back. I don't care about any of that, I just want that shit to never happen again and the perps dealt with appropriately.

Why? You don't want them to help the local PD? You guys act like those guns are some kind of sacred cow, they are just guns that were confiscated in crimes. There was no saving them, even if Benchmade said no, someone was going to cut them up. It's not like the PD was going around taking guns from law abiding citizens and then Benchmade cut them up.

Ever hear of Red Flag Laws? The point is that no supposed Pro 2A organization should participate in this activity. Like you said, let someone else do it. Why put your company's name out there in an anti gun light? That doesn't make good business sense.

I agree with the principal thing, however there are a lot better ways to get things fixed. I personally would have taken the sign down myself and kept it. I would have raised hell with the ownership group, like what eventually happened with the Hilton, but I would have done it immediately while I was still at the hotel, not by posting a picture on Facebook. In the end it all worked out, the shitbags got sent packing.

On another note, with this long drawn out, unmotivational discussion there are penance due to @Dirty D for side tracking the thread.

If you travel a lot, then you know that a lot of the smaller hotels have “managers” that are there because they stuck around and took the shit of upper management long enough to outlast those that saw reality and bailed. It doesn’t mean that they have a clue how to manage, employees or otherwise.

If you were to attend a Business course at any of the current colleges known to have a respected Business program, you would find out quickly that they are almost always taught by 2nd or 3rd generation college inbreeds. By that, I mean that they are stundents of students, probably if students. These profs, even the most senioritied of them, have never seen real world business other than when they hire themselves out as “business experts”. They fly in like seagulls, eat all your food, shit all over everything, and fly out again. Mission was a success. Been there, saw the professional educator inbreeding, did what I had to do to ace the course, and moved on.
