It's happened before, way more often than you would realize.
From the article -
"They drew their weapons when they saw the two U.S. soldiers . . . " and "While the two U.S. troops were on the south side of the security perimeter, officials say that they were still north of the Rio Grande . . . "
Which side of the Rio Grande were the Mexican soldiers on?
Either the Mexican soldiers saw the US soldiers "on the other side of the river" or "the same side of the river we were on".
If it was "the other side of the river", what are they - stupid?
It if was "on the same side of the river we were on", it appears they must have been on our side of the border.

Seriously?? Did you go to an American school and get a diploma? Texas is separated from mexico by the rio grand.. a river.. hence the term “wetback”. If you wanna get real technical, when the republic of Texas fought of the Mexican army without federal help Santa anna signed away all water rights to the rio grand so we own all the river, not just our side. So now not only are we being invaded by illegals but by armed foreign soldiers too? Why isn’t this nationwide news?Sometimes this happens for nefarious reasons, sometimes it is just a mistake.
The Mexican troops brought in to handle shit on the Mexican side are often not from that area. They honestly don't know where the border is. They see a big ass fence and think that is it.
There are lots of places where the border isn't defined at all, because it is in the middle of a huge wide, seasonally dry wash that might be a mile wide. From the actual border, it might be 1/2 mile south to the first Mexican levee and another 1/2 mile or more north to the levee on the American side.
The fence gets built wherever the engineers figure is the best place. It could be on the border, on the south side of the levee, on the north side of the levee....the in between is no man's land where all kinds of fuckery happens.
Future illegal alien/Democrat votersPardon my international ignorance, but what is it that Mexico has to offer that prevents us from closing the borders completely?

Are you kidding me, we can't even get Americans to stop going to Cancun for vacation..... Mexico has been at war with us for years, and we are just like.... yawn.we can mark the border with graves...

When I did my time in the army you could enlist as a illegal and get citizenship. Nothing like serving with someone that wants what you got bad enough to stand beside you and fight for the right. Makes all other illegals look like trash. If we would stop handing out free cheese, the rats would stop coming over....
Cut off ALL social benefits including medical assistance, food, education, housing and everything to anybody not a citizen or permanent resident.
Emergency services rendered to legal visitors can be paid for by them, or billed to their embassy (like many other countries do).
Make sure employers had the fear of God in their hearts about hiring illegals thanks to the personal (not corporate) penalties for it.
If you want to ask for asylum, you can present yourself at a valid entry point, anyone else gets an immediate ride back to their country of origin, or if they refuse to say, get kicked back to the country they crossed illegally into ours from.
Those wishing to immigrate must wait their turn for visas and paperwork before showing up to the border.
Most Importantly of all:
Cut off all the avenues of sending money out of this country without being a verified citizen, permanent resident / taxpayer.
Then you would see a huge drop in illegal immigration.
But as it is now, can you actually blame the illegal immigrants for trying?
Cross the border and get free everything... and if you happen to get caught... still get free everything.. on the slight chance you get sent back, just try again...
Sometimes this happens for nefarious reasons, sometimes it is just a mistake.

So Mexico is the 3rd largest exporter of goods to the US behind Canada and China, so why with all the sales of goods to the US do they still have people pouring into our country for "a better life"?There are $600B in legal goods going across the border annually. Keeping it open for legal commerce makes sense. No need to shut it completely- just shut all points that arent legal/controlled crossing points. Everything one and everything not crossing at a legal point gets a burrrrrp from an AC-130
If as the story indicates they were armed they should be charged with Dereliction of Duty.

with all the bullshit bragart shit you know that gets talked about while on guard duty, if this happens i will do...
then they drop their rifles and get taken prisoner, ON OUR LAND...
they should have shot the fuck out of everything...
courts martial them and run them out of service
You obviously haven't spent a lot of time in Yuma, Arizona where there are miles and miles of dry washes, which is where I was drawing that example from. We had our share of incursions there.Parts of your statement are patently wrong. There is nowhere in Texas that isn't bordered by a River: The Rio Grande.

Seems to me like theres nothing we get from them we can't produce right here.
That chart should read "What US Outsourced to Mexico". Jobs Americans won't do my ass. Not for $3hour. When is that shit gonna be stopped? Caterpillar has their factory right on the border with US. Just so they don't have to pay American workers. They aren't the only one.
I question our directives and ask why WE are not as aggressive with our border.
