So I’m in the infant stages of reloading and starting to shoot PRS. I plan on buying a Armageddon Gear 40/40 or a Coletac ammo novel my question is ....why do you guys prefer and would I be better served just going straight to one of those as opposed to purchasing one of those and some of the ammo boxes from mtm also. Just trying not to waste money.

I bought a Cole-Tac, have used it now at two matches, and absolutely love it. It's the most compact and secure way to take the (generally) 100 rounds you'll need for a match plus an extra 20 for zeroing and the such. I don't like rounds rattling around in ammo boxes in my pack. I was looking at the 40 rounders, but one piece is better than three. Plus Cole-Tac offers stuff in Multicam Black which looks OPERATOR AF.

I've got a 40/40, and I am super happy with it. It's compact, easy to use (I labeled the flaps with 1-4 to keep track of where I am pulling ammo from), the trays are easy to replace if needed, and you can break it in half if you only need 40. I start the day at PRS matches with a filled 40/40 and 4 loaded AW mags - 120 total. That will get me through a full day at *almost* any PRS/NRL match (Heatstroke, I am looking at YOU...)

To answer ur question, I heard a guy tell a story he traveled to a match using the mtm boxes. Ammo was bouncing around and had only 1 thou tension on his shot brass. Most of the Bullets moved and his BTO was all over the place. Some had basically fallen down into the powder. I was told he found someone and pulled and reseated before the match. Not great.

Sounds like his problem was the neck tension more than how he transported it.

correct, the neck tension was the issue but the boxes being pounded on for a long trip in a car made the problem. If this then that... Just a story of one instance where the MTM boxes did not hold the ammo like they needed to for the made ammunition to shoot the way they were made.

Another option are the Voodoo Ammo wallets. 40 rounds each and are about the size of a box of factory ammo. I've got a couple of them and really like them. Just a thought. The boxes tend to rattle around. Most of my shooting locations are a ways into the mountains so I prefer to not have things rattling around.

I bought a pack of 3 vinyl bank bags from Office Depot. Was less than $20. Better than MTM boxes for travel, cheaper than ammo wallets/binders/novels/whatever. I use the mtm boxes for storage.

plan big , shipping creates with labels it's hard to store and mass product 1,000,000 rounds of ammo in a apartment . But well worth the effort lol .

That would suck just a little.
