I’m getting set up for a mile and I’m not sure what to do about my zero. I have a 30 MOA scope base and I have to use the very top of my reticle to sight in at 100. I’m still a good ways off at 200 as well. My only option is 300 yards shooting at a gong. I was really wanting to get this done at 100 to be as precise as possible.
How do I determine what distance to put into Strelok?
I mean I’m shooting at 100 but technically Not sighted in at 100.

This is for a AR30 in 338 Lapua
Berger 300 OTM running 2740 fps
Viper HS-T 6-24 VMR-1 MOA

That sounds good thank you all so much. Does anyone know if I need the 30 MOA?
Can I get away with 20?

I have that scope.
You only have about 70 moa total vertical in it.
On a 20 moa rail I had 53ish moa to dial up with a 100 yard zero.

I’m not sure why you can’t get even close to a 100 yard zero with the 30 moa rail.

Could someone please explain the zero offset. It’s not completely clear to me.

Thanks to everyone for the help.

Aim crosshairs at center of target, shoot group.

Say the group measures 10” higher than the poa, that’s your offet. +10”.

This is one of the only times I would suggest using linear value as you can measure it exactly on paper with a ruler.

Also, either measure with a tape or a very good laser and mark the zero range exactly. If it’s 98 yds or 102yds. Just measure it exactly and input it.

What is the total elevation spec for your scope? 30 MOA base may not be a good match for your scope.

The zero offset is really intended for same rifle but different ammo. Cartridge 1 is zeroed properly and cartridge 2 has the offset. Or just cartridge 1 and the small difference from poa to poi.

It should have 70.
That’s why I’m curious why OP can’t get a zero.

OP,,,,did you pull all your zero stop shims out?
