Just don’t rest your barrel itself on the barricade
Then he better practice that way, otherwise he’ll find his shots hitting over the target more than likely.Meh, if the target is big enough, you might have to and it will be fine.
Rifles only used to have stages where your barrel was required to rest on something. It doesn’t make as big a deal as people think if the target is close/big enough.
Original intent of matches were to mimic real life. You don’t always get to choose your rest and if you have to rest the barrel on something, while not ideal, so be it.

I’m assuming the intent was to cant the rifle 90°.
Lay the rifle on its side at ninety degrees and use the windage turret for elevation.
I shot the match this barricade was at. There was no gear restrictions. I adjusted bi pod height so it cleared the bottom of the hole and shot the 965 yard target prone with a rear bag. No problems. Went 2 for 3 because I was low on my first shot.
Touche'Doesn’t work exactly that simple because the rifle wasn’t zero’d that way.
While you will be using the windage turret, it will not be the same dope.
My dad and my fiancé RO’d that stage!
You would have liked it this year Sheldon, they definitely took a step forward with the match.
