I'm considering re-barreling my LR260. It's getting shot out and am considering a 6CM.

I'm kind of in love with my 'stick shift' 6CM. It's in the top 3 consistently accurate rifles I own currently, high .3s to .4 moa 5 shots relentlessly.

Would anyone have any reservations at all on having this cartridge in a gas gun??

Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Abosolutly Not I have a Wilson Super Sniper 6 CM shoots <.5 groups Hor 108 ELD, new brass sub MOA used brass. Get an Adjustable block , For Varmint 87 V Max is a heck of bullet out to 500 yds 3350fps all Hornaday brass

Have you had any malfunctions?
One of the reason I went 260rem is because of the shallow shoulder angle for feeding...not one malfunction ever.

Yes, I have an adjustable gas block. I'll never run an AR10 variant without one.

I actually had an AR10 in 6mm Creedmoor with an Odin Works barrel. Here is the good, the bad, and the ugly about 6mm creed in a gasser.
Good:
1. 105gr to 3100 ft/sec with no malfunction--that's 2.2 mils to 500 yards from a freaking gasser!!!
2. I've shot 3.5 inch--5 shot group at 500 yards.
4. make a dummy round and send it to LEE they will make you a crimp die for the 6mm creed for like $27 to $30. You're going to need to crimp them if you're running it in a gasser.
3. Very soft recoil.
4. bullets for 6mm are dirt cheap.
5. You do not need an adjustable gas block if you have the rifle length +2 gas system.

The bad:
1. to get that 3100 ft/sec from the 105gr you going to have to use 41.0 gr of Reloder 17 (not temp stable) or 41.3 gr of Reloder 16 or 46.0 gr of Reloder 26 (if you want temp stability). sound great right, but it will blow out your primer pockets and leave holes in the primer that will push gas into your face.
2. It is extremely hard on brass, you get 1 or maybe 2 loading per case, but hey midsouth has them for $39 per 100 hornady 6mm creed
3. to get 6mm creed to run flawlessly I had to switch to 44.6gr H4831 SC which solves the case life and primer issues but will only get you up to 2960ft/sec safely--that's 2.4mils to 500 yards with a BC > 0.53 .
4. If you going to use it in PRS you will get at max 900 round per barrel, before it will no longer hold 2 MOA at 100 yards... I thought it was just me, but a quick google search and other guys were getting exactly 900 rounds... It's a legit number!!!
5. pieces of the primer may get into the bolt and "lock up" the firing pin rendering the gun inoperative costing you the stage...It's happened to me before.

The ugly:
1. I'd do it all over again with no regrets.

I had a JP 6mm CM barrel in a mega receiver set and hated it.

Despite the +2 gas system, I started popping primers at 2900 using H4350 or H4831sc. Factory 108 Hornady popped primers.

Sierra 110s would not chamber at all. The bullet tip would strike the back of the barrel prior to the round hitting the feed ramps.

Berger 105s would chamber, but the meplat would be dinged for the same reason.

Accuracy was very good.

I went to 6.5 CM and all my issues went away.

I have a proof research 6 cm 24 +3 shoots factory 103 eldx around 3/4 moa @ 2960 fps. Tried Berger 105 from copper creek 3050 fps. Got swiping on brass never adjusted block since I had some minor meplat damage. So not something that would be ok for hunting. Target wise 1/2 moa. Testing 108 factory next. Then trying some hand loads depending on findings.

Have RCA carrier and standard JP spring. SLR block. Larue magazine

I have a Mega set with a JP barrel that had a rifle length gas tube... was good with 107 SMKs. 105 hybrids would hit the feed ramp. Took it off with 900ish rounds and went to a carbon proof.... 200 rounds and not found a load I like. Finally gave up and called proof; they told me to use 108 ELD M factory ammo. Still was not what I felt it should be. Stuffed it in the back of the safe and have not touched it for over a year. I plan to pull it all apart, clean, inspect, and reassemble and try again.

I still have the JP barrel if anyone wants to try it out. I will give it away. ... Just been sitting in my spare parts tool box and don’t plan to put it back on.

I’d like to try it with Hornady 105 BTHP, I also have a pile of 90 grain Scenars. So, for real, what you want for it???
