Gunsmithing Anyone able to do hot bluing?

I have a rifle barreled action and some other parts that I'd like to get blued... traditional hot bluing.

Anyone here doing it? I can send the parts in 90 percent polish for final polish and blue. Not too choosy about the 'tone' or color. It just has to be shiny, rich blue in traditional style.

I know Charlie Roberston at Score High does hot blue. Not sure about turn-around or price though. I sent him a coffee can of bolts, nuts, springs and other hardware once, bluing came back quite nice.

I have never had Charlie blue anything, but he is a great, honest guy that does very good work and stands by it. He has been in this industry a long time and one of “The good ones”. Worth giving him a call.

I had this guy reblue a couple of my smith & wesson revolvers and he did a fantastic job at a very reasonable price....it also helped that he was local to me. Check out his blog its full of firearm restorations.

Had some stuff done by Mel Doyle at Doyle's Gun Shop in Idaho 15-20 yrs ago. Great work and fast turnaround. Looks like he's still in business so might be worth looking at if no one here is set up.

a friend had his rifle blued by a company called Glenrock and it came out beautifully...very deep rich blue.

Custom shop in MT is also definitely worth looking into as well. A couple of people on my local firearm forum had some revolvers reblued and they do an outstanding job.

How about a nice Colt Python style blueing?

Gary Reeder did this blueing.
Some of the pits were very deep and I elected to leave a few rather than thin things out too much.
