I only accept USPS Money Order with a tracking number when selling stuff online. Ive only ever accepted a check a couple times. The buyer had great feedback.

Nothing fishy about a seller asking for a MO with tracking. Payment via PayPal is risky as fuck though.

But regarding the OP, id walk away. Unless he agrees to meet in a very public area in the daytime. Like a wal mart parking lot with lots of cameras.

My guess is that you were actually dealing with two or more different people and the one responsible for working the forum has a better command of our language.

if you are wrong, then we can settle is once and for all

We already reject accounts from suspect areas, that is done daily

but if they switch accounts we cannot always tell initially

I had a run in with a scammer recently (Tucker was quick with a ban, always thankful) and I discovered his well written intelligent sounding posts were actually cut and pasted from other forums. I used to examine a seller's previous posts as a precaution, but realize that's useless. He even had other items in the PX marked sold, more fake posts. I think the new feedback system will help. Mods, we do appreciate all you do.

We've already caught pro scammers paying for access. It's not hard to do when you're using stolen funds and someone else's credit cards.

Nothing, if you don't mind waiting for it to clear before I ship the merchandise.

heres whats wrong with a check. i sent a check for a scope i bought on gunbroker once and it turned into a they used my checking account number and routing number to create a fraud check for $10k and cash it at some bank that wasnt mine. So they made off with $10k and i had to go through 3 months of closing checking account, reopening, filing fraud claims etc.

So guess what? i dont send checks to people i dont know, because its easy to scam and its got my personal info on it. A USPS MO is as ironclad as it can get.

I didn't realize the feedback system had been easy to compromise. You're correct, can't ever let your guard down. I've taken to looking for a previous sale post, then contacting the buyer and asking if the transaction was satisfactory. Probably a way to cheat there also.
