Recommend a good pair of pants that doesn’t skinny jean the ankles...

I'll put in another vote for Mountain Khakis. Might take you a while to figure out exactly which ones work best for you, but they are most excellent pants. Great fabric that's comfortable and very durable. I wear them almost exclusively instead of jeans. They last forever.

Duluth Firehose Flex.

I wear the Foreman version. They also come in jeans, carpenter, cargo, relaxed fit, fleece-lined, and slim fit.

The Foreman is the closest to a traditional khaki, with slash-cut pockets and without loops or cargo pockets. The slash-cut pockets make it easy to get into the pocket compared to a jean-style 5-pocket arrangement. They're big enough to pocket-carry a G43.

Daluth trading company makes some very good, and comfortable pants. I’m in the same boat, I hate tight ankles jeans, and any jean that is very tight around the thighs. I also have bigger thighs so Daluth has been very comfortable and rugged.

Ok, I wasn’t really sure where to put this and having pants that are tight around the ankles have their place, sometimes. But, just out putting around I’d like to find a good pair of pants that’s wide enough at the bottom to hang over boots and shoes, not bunch up around them. Anyone know of any? I have no idea why every pant maker follows this ankle hugging rule. I had some pants from Pakistan that were perfect, and most rain gear and the like pants are made to fit over boots so why can’t you find regular pants that do the same? Yeah I’m tired of having pants bunch up at my feet.

I’m a big fan of the Wrangler Riggs. They are some of the toughest pants I have ever owned. I also have large thighs in proportion to my waist and they are actually sized large enough to fit me. I have tried Carhartt pants and they fit me like spandex which really isn’t a good look. Here is a link to the cargo version but they have carpenter and standard styles. They are also rip stop fabric which is nice as well.

BTW I forgot to add that you can usually catch these on sale at JC penny for $25-29.

True story, a few years ago I bought a number of pair of slacks from Sportsmen Guide, their own brand, dress pants. I've been wearing them every day to work, alternating between the light kakee (sp?) and the dark blue. And, they are, by far, the best pair of pants I've ever owned. I wish I could find more. I have to wear business casual (no jeans) and these fit the bill. And they were....$25 each.

Forgot about Riggs. Have a few pair and you’re right, good jeans.
You can find them priced right at Rural King from time to time.

How do the Duluth Fire hose pants fit size wisecompared to Carharts? I read a several year old post about them shrinking after a few wash cycles and needing to order a size larger. Is this still the case?

I have been wearing the Carhart double front logger jeans in Denim and Duck for years, but am considering trying a pair or two of firehose pants, as it sounds like the durability should be similar?

Vertex, I own about 10 pair and they are the first pants I want to grab but 10% of the time if I am out with my Wife they are not the correct type to wear.
I agree with the Carhart reply, I own a few pairs and I like them. I have two pair of Duluth, doubt I will buy any more.

You could try Roundhouse Jeans Triple knee or their double for about a third of the price.
Still proudly made in the USA for over 100 years.
I quite buying Carhartt anything since they off shored 99% of their product.
I do have many lightly used 30 and 40 year old Carhartt bibs and coats that have a lot of life left in them I'll sell you

Ariat has a new FlexFit M4 blue jean that is crazy comfortable. I have to wear FR jeans for work but the new flexible FR is still thinner and stretchier than any pair of jeans I have ever owned. The only downside is I bought one pair to try and now I need to get more!
