Hello kids! I am somewhat new to this fancy precision shooting. I am looking for some recommendations on moderate tier equipment to continue on. Rifle, scope, chassis, etc. Doing my homework, everything seems decent, so I am trying to figure out if some thing are better than others.

Thanks!!!

It was left vague intentional to not sway a answer. What I had in mind was below. However if a another recommendation is better in all ears.

1.) Howa 1500- KRG Bravo with Vortex PST GEN II

or

2.) Tikka T3X A1 (fixed stock) with Vortex PST GEN II.

Start out with a hot pink Crickett and some NC Star glass.

I would like to stay moderate level. No more than $3000.

Spend relatively more on the scope, rings, and mount than you do on the rifle. Have a professional install (and not "T. Tex"). You can then transition the trimmings to something beyond a box-stock Sako or Howa.

Excellent. Doing the research, everything to me seems of decent quality. Nothing stands out to be completely garbage. Any advice on what I should look into?

Spend up to $2000 on a built rifle and the rest on a scope and go shoot.

See if this is even a hobby you want to take up.

As an entry gun I caution against the overwhelming options and directions of building your own.

Tikka CTR in 6.5 Creedmoor. Maybe replace the stock with a KRG Bravo, if you don't like the stock Tikka item. Shoot it until the barrel is worn out. Then, replace the barrel.
The best scope you can afford after that.

Bighorn Origin
Keystone or Criterion Prefit Barrel. Heavy palma or MTU 26" 6.5 creed
KRG Bravo or MDT Oryx
Triggertech Special
Atlas Cal Bipod
Area419 Hellfire or Insite heathen Brake
Accurate or MDT aics magazines without binder plate
ARC rings
vortex pst gen 2 ebr-2d from eurooptic

this is an easy in that won’t hold you back and you can grow with.

and very easy to upgrade and not lose much money. which isn't exactly the case with an R700 based build.

tikka tac a1 is decent chassis but you're pretty stuck. it's more of a complete system
RPR is fine, but most people end up spending another $800 to get it going
tikka ctr is great platform, even with needing to add a chassis from the start

your other option would be a tikka CTR in 6.5 creed and drop it in a Bravo or similar. and get a razor gen 2 instead of the PST

one option has a more solid rifle build and the other has a more solid scope. neither is the wrong answer

Ok this is what I would do, Bergara b-14 HMR 6.5 creedmoor, get a trigger tech special for it and a APA little bastard brake.
Base- Badger ordnance 20moa rail, vortex or seekens rings and a vortex razor hd gen ii optic.

Great choice, but would blow his budget just with the HMR and the Razor Gen II.

I know, he could get the gun and order the optic online at a discount price and then as he goes ad the trigger and brake. The HMR is in a mini chassis so he doesn’t need to up grade it. He seems to want to cut the costs in optics, if he is going to be shooting by himself and needs to see the impacts he needs good glass.

Personally I'd also go with the Razor but if his budget is in a crunch and he wants to get on the range as soon as he's got the rifle the Vortex Viper PST Gen II 5-25x50 FFP would make that happen within, or close to his budget.

Your #2 was a great choice:
2.) Tikka T3X A1 (fixed stock) with Vortex PST GEN II.

You get a great action, trigger, barrel, with prs style folding stock. Esp if you buy used off gunbroker. I have seen them $1200 leaving a good bit for a scope. PST is fine, Bushnell DMR, Athlon... many more. Get a real bipod though... no airsoft clones. I think you are already going in the right direction. This set up can run with any of the $10k setups... I should know.. I was always a AI fanatic and got tired of being obliterated in matches buy guys with off the shelf remingtons, tikkas, and rugers. The hard rock guys know exactly what im talking about.

i think I might go Nightforce SHV at the pst price point. But be sure and look here for vendors making those black friday deals

I just sold off my high end gear and decided I cant do worse with a APO saber M700 set up exactly like you are looking at. The snipershide rifle they currently making is also a great deal.
