Nice!

Was at a friends house last week to pick up a barrel. He was showing me his smokeless ML set up and a 300 yard, 3 shot group that was oval!! Stacked those rounds on top of each other!!
Pretty damn impressive, especially given the projectile size and shape.

Smokeless muzzleloader's will definitely shoot. Work some for a guy that builds them and half moa is for sure possible. We built one on my origin action, was shooting it at nmlra nationals and shot a 4 inch group at 500 yards with no rear rest. Had to use blackhorn powder though, no smokeless aloud there.

Curious what bullets hes planning on shooting in .50 cal? .45 and .40 have the best bullet selection in the muzzleloaders. Very nice rig!

Jeff at Bestill Creations is the guy I help out, he has built some pretty wild ones. Did a Desert Tech for a guy earlier this year. He has a facebook page with some of the ones hes built. I dont have it but think you can still look at the pics.

Gonna try to head up to thunder valley and stretch his newest personal one out. Hoping to try for a mile.

Oldish thread sorry, but do any of you guys know of a good source of info on how a smith would cut the barrel for a breech plug? Is there any “chamber” or freebore or is it just straight end of plug to rifling?

I’d also want to know if the bolt requires any mods to work with the popular breech plug and ignitions.

On mine their is a powder chamber in front of the plug. It is measured specifically for the load I'm shooting, can go more just not less. I am using my factory .308 bolthead on my Origin action with Arrowhead sporting goods modules.

Definitely use a rear sealing plug whether its ASG or Hankins. You could probably get ahold of Jeff at Bestill Creations but it being our deer season will have to leave a message. He could answer your questions on the breechplug as far as installing. Good luck

Ken is running a 250gr hornady mono flex .458 diameter. with V V N120 at around 2600 fps. He has had very good results out to 350 yards on steel. I will be using it later this week to try and harvest a couple deer. will let you know how it goes.

Just guessing that bullets gonna run out of steam fairly quick, not saying 350 isnt far! If he could get his hands on some pittmans or parker match hunters I know the bc would be way better. Think even arrowhead has a line of bullets now. Would have to check and see if available in .458 or just .452. Never tried in sabot but shoot lights out full bore.

Looks like you guys may be in canada so not sure on shipping ouside of country, know theres goofy regulations on some stuff. Either way good luck and damn nice rig!
