What is the best DIY rifle out there that enables the shooter to maintain and alter by himself the most?

The AI series of self changing barrells in under 4mins stands out for me, the face that you can change the barrel BY YOURSELF without having to wait 2 months after sending it to a gunsmith is amazing!

Any thoughts...

I would suggest changing your title to something less likely to get you roasted.
Maybe something like Best practical DIY target rifle

That being said the current AI system and especially the AXMC is very hard to beat if you want quick barrel & parts change with minimal tools as well as allowing you to reconfigure the rifle for a different caliber in minutes.

A lot more reading prior to posting would be a start. Then again we need another troll,...

This guy is about to get torched... Getting my popcorn!

I use a DT SRS. Love changing barrels out so easy. And it is so compact. It's one hell of a sniper rifle lol
I’ve been really wanting one. But seeing as I don’t want any of the normal chamberings offered (how boring) and my desire to use it for barrel burners makes it a pretty hard pill to swallow when I’m already pretty set for the most part other than just buying for curiosities sake.

There is no reason to think you are stuck with "normal" chamberings. You can get a barrel in any caliber. I shoot 6.5cm and 7 saum. Guys do everything from 223 up to 338 and all in between. Barrels are not much more than regular shouldered barrels.

As much as I would love an AI or SRS I use my Tikka as a switch barrel with some of PVAs offerings. Got a spare bolt and can switch between 6.5 and 223 at will. After you remove the OEM barrel all you need is a torque wrench and headspace gauge to change barrels which takes a few minutes. Action can stay in the chassis. The whole setup is a fraction of the price of others mentioned and doesnt give up a dang thing accuracy wise. Just lose some cool points. RPRs are probably the same.

Don't see the purpose of the speed to change out barrels quickly, I don't think I would what to disassemble my rifle on the battlefield to switch calibers. In my living room " base camp" for us civilians is a much different scenario. I can see changing calibers to shoot less expensive rounds for target shooting. In a sniper role I would want the largest caliber possible wether the target is at 2000 yds or 10 feet in front of me.

I’m seeing 1k as the cheapest in a barrel from es tactical or something. I’d expect 5-600 for a normal prefit. But I use barrel nuts and my barrrels are 450. Is the shortness worth it to me?

Thanks for all the reply guys and yes I expected the roasting, this was just to put up a case for new shooters, its hard to best a AI AT, you can literally have 2 barrels at home along with the one on your rifle and literally never take it into the gunsmith in your lifetime, for a new shooter that's amazing I feel! A practical DIY self sufficient rifle. I wish the SAKO TRG was the same but you have to send that to the gunsmith and its the waiting that kills me as I have to shoot once a week or else I cant live :)

I will sell you my Desert Tech kit at a good price. I have 6.5 creedmoor and 7 SAUM barrels. Like new A1 chassis, a matching covert handguard, tool to change it out, arca rail, factory box and packaging, etc.
