I’ve started to look for some better brass than the Hornady I’ve been using, but everyone seems to be sold out. I did find some once fired LC brass head stamped FC12. How is the relative quality of this brass? Would this be the same quality as Federal commercial brass, and is Federal brass any good. Thanks so much.

Mike

It is most likely Mk248 mod 1 and that being the case, was a significantly over pressure load. I have reloaded it but every primer pocket was loose from the one firing prior. The loads were precise but I did not dare attempt a third loading.

If loading for belted magnum cases, I recommend getting a belt sizing die. Helps size and maintain that area just above the belt and prolongs case life.

I would steer clear of Winchester, quality control is in the toilet and you will likely cull upwards of 25% of your cases.

Lapua should be good chit when it comes out. Recently I have been using ADG brass, extremely consistent across 100 cases, but only have a couple loadings on them.

As 81sfo stated, I believe Black Hills to be winchester brass with a different headstamp.

The once fired brass I have isnt current or present day stuff, I've had it for many years as I bought several large flat rate boxes full here on the hide. The brass never seems to go bad no loose primer pockets, no case separation no loss of neck tension till after 15 or 20 firings. I know the new Winchester has gone to shit I agree.
