i think it is time to admit 6.5cm is the new standard, for people that have been resisting after being faked out early before.
that said, i think it is a good idea to learn windcalls with a .308 (or .22lr), since you can't always depend on having enough wind to even move a 6.5 very much. .308 gives more opportunity to learn, and then the 6.5 will be easy.
one of the things i like so far about the scar is that it is fairly ammo agnostic. it isn't .7 moa with 145-150gr surplus M80 ball or Serbian PPU, but it is easy to hit plates out at 500 yards, which is probably good enough for god's work if that is all i can find.
heck, if anyone invades, or war breaks out, there;s a good chance the enemy will bring me some ammo.

right. not light, but not as heavy as some of the best or most trusted AR-10s.
i had a .22lr, a few hand guns, a shotgun and a lever action .308.
i had no practical need for the Scar, except when i really need to shoot money out the end.
but in california i felt it was maybe now or never on a semi-auto centerfire rifle, so i decided to get one while i could.
and then of course good rifle, better glass, rangefinder, spotting scope...
my wife is a saint.
i saw one nib for $3650 or something somewhere.
yes, but it must be rendered california before you can possess it assembled completely.
before you can connect the upper and lower, it must be featureless (no pistol grip or forward grip, no folding or telescoping stock, no flash hider) and then it is perfectly legal.
most stores do all of that before they sell it to you.

the scar light is bullet proof.
one example at Battlefield Vegas has shot over 200,000 rounds and the only things they had to replace so far is the barrel once and a hammer broke.
the 20S isn't made to carry around.
it was made to sit above all the guys running around with their little 22s, and rain hellfire and lead upon the enemy below.
you could empty a magazine on a mob of zombies before they hear the first shot.

If you are going for lightweight The POF revolution is pretty light.
I personally have an SR25 ACC, LMT MWS, and Scar 17. They are all good rifles but I am not sure that i would recommend the scar if you are looking to be suppressing it. If not rejetted properly, even low back pressure cans have grenaded bolt carriers, if you mount a can, you are pretty much own your own as it voids your warranty. Add in the tapco quality trigger and it possibly eating an optic, i am not sure that it does anything better than my Kac or LMT.
If I had to grab 1, not knowing anything, it would probably be the SR25, its about a pound lighter than my MWS in its lightest configuration, and is accurate enough to hold MOA out to 800. Supresses well
Nice choice. I have a 14.5" DD barrel in my Geissele URGI upper and it's a shooter.
I had the exact same experience with SCAR when I felt it for the first time. Plus-it was black which I only ever saw the FDE ones.

POF Revolution, they don't get much love on the Hide but are quite light under 7# when comparing.
*IF* the SCAR 17s didn't eat optics it would be the perfect choice, it's ridiculously reliable, and it's weight and balance are much better than most any AR10/DPMS .308 setup with similar reliability and accuracy. The CZ bren is nice, but it's battle rifle accurate from what I've seen ~2 MOA. POF/KAC/LMT are all good choices if you get a good one.
I have the SCAR 20 and it is amazing. It is very heavy and not made to cart around long but it does shoot 1/2 moa very easily. I just got the 17 on layaway since I liked the 20 so much. I built a cheaper rifle from Aero set and had Craddock do an 18" Bartlein for it and is also 1/2 moa and much lighter and only cost maybe 1800 total!
I would lean away from the SCAR. I’ve been down that road twice. When they first came out I bought one and quickly sold it. It was accurate, but the POI was ALWAYS in a different place. You could shoot a group and walk away from it for 30 minutes, come back and it was somewhere else. It always shot nice groups especially for a battle rifle, but it just shifted all the time.
Fast forward to when Gander was going out of business, my local one had two of them for $1400 each on clearance so I bought both. Both rifles exhibited the same issue. I talked to a couple guys that know a lot more about the things than me and they said it was a common issue with them.
People say the 20S shoots well, but there’s also people that say the 17 shoots well. I don’t know though. My 17’s shot well but didn’t shoot the same POI and that’s an issue to me.
Personally I’d get a KAC, LMT, or Sword International.

pro-tip on the scar-h is that the barrel screws need to be checked often, at least at first.
almost invariably, if a Scar-H has a POI shift out of nowhere, or can't shoot groups with FGMM, the barrel needs to be torqued back to 62 in/lbs. sometimes people find one or more of them loose when they get it from the factory.
i found a couple of screws were not @ spec after the first range trip, and then it has been good since then so far.
backed them all out, then tightened from back to front to spec and zeroed again.
a 62 in/lb fix it stick is included in the FN scar field kit (or whatever they call it) .
now we all know why they include it.

I had a POF Revolution that had a huge POI shift-like off the paper huge. It would always start off balls on and shoot balls on until some point where it was gone.
Interesting..... did it get fixed? That POF Revolution seems like a cool gun I would be interested in.
I have a vid on youtube about it-that was before the POI shift started happening. That thing would shoot FGMM 175s to 1moa easy. I had a 10" steel plate I put on an Island on a lake at the cabin-hung it in the winter when the lake was froze-500 yds away. In prone position I could ping that thing all day. It was a nice rig-super light of course. Had kind of a nasty recoil impulse but I got used to it.
I ended up selling it and my soul to LMT.
How heavy is your LMT compared to the Revolution ? That is obviously a nice rifle. I mean felt weight, does it feel significantly heavier than the POF?
The Daniel Defense DD5V4 is 8.6# and is one I am eyeing as well

mlok upper with 16" cl barrel 308-10lb 13oz with 5x prism scope, Magpul pro offset BUIS
Slick upper with 24" 6.5 cm tube and Vortex Razor 4.5-27-No idea but its got to be pushing 14+lbs
Sharpshooter L129 16" 308 that's ~12lbs.
As much of an LMT and KAC fanboy as I am-KAC is not $2000 better rifle then the DD. I have 2 SR15s that were $2000ish and I think that's definitely worth it for small frame. Basically I have 3 LMTs-many of the parts/barrels were black friday deals etc-for basically the price of 1 KAC heavy.
Longer rail, less weight, smaller circumference at the balance point for carrying, can mount a bipod or tripod on the KAC where the barrel change hardware won’t let you in the LMT and of my two LMT lowers one won’t drop KAC mags free and neither will drop PMAGs.

IMO, The SR25 is worth it if you are a big fan of Knights (I am) so I gladly spent the extra $$ to own one. Mine shoots ~.9 to 1.1 MOA depending upon whatever match ammo I’m running. My hand loads give me .75 fairly consistently and never had issues with it.
If you’re not a huge KAC fan, LMT is a great alternative given they have parts in common, the two companies maintain a close working relationship, both make excellent products and with the LMT, you have a multi caliber system.
I’ve owned both and still have my KAC but I had an old gen 1 LMT that refused to shoot suppressed reliably, even with factory match ammo. Those over gassing issues have since been changed with the more recent iterations of the platform.

SR25 is just a smooth smooth smooth rig. Very refined and smooth. Super balanced as you said and pleaseant recoil. YBelieve me I'd love to have one and often figure out ways to get one.
If you decide to purchase one, you won’t be disappointed and will likely have it until they lower you into the ground.
Oh I know that believe me. So far I'm satisfied with KAC lights and LMT heavies. I did break my own rule and have an LMT New Zealand rifle on the way which may flip my world on it's end who knows ?
I am not a gun encyclopedia haha. Obviouslly the KAC is an amazing weapon, but what difference would that make?
I would think the adjustable gas block would be good for running suppressed.
I would find a matched upper/lower if you are gun savvy and can build your own. You know your needs better than any manufacturer and can build it how you want. If not, there are a lot of good options out there. I really like the Armalite I had. I would stick with a 16" barrel because the suppressor is going to add length to that. You can go shorter and still reach out to 500 pretty easily, but that wouldn't be my personal preference.
It can be done... this isn't a 1/2" group.. instead it is 10rds from a PA10 FN CHF CL barreled OEM upper , 100yds benched scoped and tuned by me.
Hornady AG 155gr... to me that shows some good potential.
IMO, you can build a great Large Frame AR that can shoot damned well.
Criterion 18" barrel on a PSA upper, Lantac brake , Adj. GB .. upper receiver face lapped, and barrel Loctited in place.
5rds, 168gr FGMM, 100yds, scoped , benched... etc.

I'm saying your not getting that kind of accuracy out of a sub $1k PSA factory gun like was stated above. PSA receivers with a criterion barrel is not a factory P10 or whatever they call it.
True.. but add an adj. GB and a Criterion barrel, tune it and you are still at a low cost .308 S/A.... that shoots pretty good...

The 18" 308 Carbine from PSA was "8 1/4lbs bone stock.".... no scope, no PRS stock, no Criterion barrel... and from a few years ago.

I kind of agree with this, The SR25 is a little more refined in most areas over a similarly configured MWS with the most notable area being weight. if you are willing to take that hit. The LMT makes the most sense. Especially if one has budget constraints.
Now the Compared to the Scar, I feel that the SR25 is absolutely worth it. For the money I put into making the Scar more shootable, I was pretty much at the price of a SR25 and still had the potential issues of it eating an optic or cracking a carrier if supressed.
