I've worn out a couple of hand primers and my Lyman Tmag press tends to flip small primers and they get inserted upside down.
I'm thinking of trying the bench mounted RCBS auto priming tool.

What do you use?

I just picked a frankford Arsenal primer, I’m struggling between crushing/deforming primers and not getting them seated below flush. It seems like the primer seater has a sloppy fit and might be contributing to my distortion issues. I’ve gone back to seating on my coax but my god is that process slow.

Have you adjusted the depth properly?

Primal Rights CPS... Expensive, but simply the best...

Below is a previous post I made on the the same topic:

“ I have both the original and latest versions of the Primal Rights’ CPS. I have found that, As far as depth of seating control and consistency are concerned, they are the best primer seating tools I have used in my +35 yrs of reloading. ... I would add that uniforming primer pockets on once fired brass and cleaning the primer pockets on each successive loading is a great way to promote consistency. I use Sinclair International Primer Pocket uniformers with great success, ...”

Good Luck

Sure, I’ve played with the depth adjustment. It either doesn’t seat them deep enough or smashes the domes.

What brass are you using? With Alpha the primer pockets are way too tight to use my Frandford hand primer, I have to prime on my CoAx. Works well with Lapua and Hornady brass.

I had a similar experience. Mine would leave half moon dents in my primers. Attempted to adjust the depth but same thing or wouldnt seat below flush. Ended up returning it and going back to my Dillon. Honestly, it works, but I would like to have a separate priming operation. CPS is undeniably nice, but way out if my budget with a baby on the way.

That’s exactly what is happening with mine

I have a 21st century tool, and it is very nice.

It now gathers dust because of my primal rights CPS. Faster and easier on the hands, with equal if not better consistency and much better 'feel.'

I have the Frankford arsenal.

With 6gt, if I turn the adjustment to see the deepest possible, hornady brass will seat below flush. Alpha will not. If I use a primer pocket uniforming tool, alpha will sit just about flush.

I need to see if my co-ax will wear them deeper in alpha. It might be the tool, might be the brass.
