All gun sales stopped until 4-9-20?

Some people get a kick out of spreading unfounded rumors. You can tell them easily enough. They start with "I've got a buddy that heard from a buddy that..." This one is a frequent flyer.

Maybe something to do with this?

Some states offices and agencies are considering options to protect the health and safety of their employees, which may include a reduction in staff or a temporary closure. If you operate in one of these areas and if you receive a delayed response from the NICS, please note the Brady transfer date provided to you by the FBI could be extended beyond the normal three business days. The three business day timeframe does not begin until relevant state offices are open for business. Additionally, because of the dramatic increase in volume, it is important to recognize FBI staff may not be able to begin their research on delayed transactions as they normally would. Therefore, you may want to consider waiting on a definitive response from the NICS before opting to proceed with a sale on any delayed transaction.

Yep, slow.

Third hand info. Check.

Lack of understanding of how the system works. Check.

Contrary to 2 separate first hand reports. Check.

"I'm not saying it's true, I'm just throwing out an inflammatory question" disclaimer. Check.

Ladies and gentlemen, we've got a full blown conspiracy rumor in its infancy.

300%.

Lots anti-gunners finally taking a look around with their own eyes I suppose...

As far as the suspension or delay. No clue of true or not. I do know my FIL bought a new benelli for turkey yesterday.

But all in all it would not shock me if it does happen...

Ok.
I spoke to some gun crew in Florida who frequent my hunting property.
***** Nothing of the sort happening***** THERE in their town.

I spoke to my main dealer in Georgia, and told him the April 9 date, and what I havent said yet about AL....
***** Nics has sent an email to dealers selling large volume AND who are experiencing delays ***** and ......

Told them the delay and pick up after 5 business days was extended to 04/09,
And 15 minutes later, he came back and said it's now April 15 to pick up a delayed sale.
Sales are not stopped but delays are extended AND nics said it was the extreme demand panic buying overloading the system.

Got the 4-9 date and same nics delay pickup detail from the biggest 1000+ guns in stock dealer in town, Opelika, Al, but sales are still going through on non delay people, NO Problem, but nics got slow, and slower as the day went on.

And got the exact same message from our Class 3 dealer here.

The nics delay pick up, by current Alabama email, at 830pm, is April 9. Sales are still going through now.

Dealer said, he could see nics shutting down completely if they keep getting panic flooded, because it's very slow on those that go through.

That's current first hand factual information from those dealers I spoke personally to.

Nics delays are the sale stopper for SOME people right now.

Jeeeezzz.

I would think some of you others would have contacts with your gun stores and could ask, but, it doesnt look that way.

A good conspiracy rumor can withstand any number of well reasoned explanations and factual observations. You'll need to do better than that...

Friend owns other LGS/C3 in town confirms delays held until 4/9 but hasn't seen any 4/15 yet. Approvals as of today have generally been <1min and only problem is ordering replacement inventory from distributors.

4/15 insanity is a middle GA dealer. The GA people have lost their minds, except for @forrestgump01 .

Here in NV, no need for an FBI check. If one has a Concealed Carry Permit, don't have to pay the fee either.
Dumbocrat Gov. Sissylak will soon try to change that, no doubt.

Just saw a post from a guy here in TN saying that his FFL told him the state had shut down backgrounds this afternoon, and he showed a picture of the NICS screen saying no new checks. There wasn't any indication of how long that would last.

yep just placed another order for more ammo and it went through 20 min ago now if it arrives in 5 days on time that remains to be seen . if anyone could screw it up I have full faith that the us postal service could do it .

Thanks for the info. Some here don't seem to know what a question mark stands for. No dealers were open here to check with last night, but will this AM. I'm Not sure they can legally delay that long w/o a proof positive declaration. Has that happened that you know of?
Are you 100% sure Gump is the only one in Ga, that's salvageable?

More than just Gump are salvageable, the russian, brian, ed, @MtnCreek , yeah, a bunch. Some of my cousins, maybe not.

Legality of delays ? You are in new territory with covid. Dont think it's legal, ask the non-essential businesses who got closed YESTERDAY by new legal declared emergency fiat; eye doc, dentist, podiatrist, yada.... or ask your attorney maybe. A few of them shut down yesterday too, "call this # if you have an emergency". New territory...
So far, here, gun stores and mechanic shops havent been declared non essential. Like doctors offices and dentists......... who knows, but the owners expect it b4 this is over based on yesterday's CA news.

If nics delays you and the shop is closed until who knows because of a shelter in place before the previous 5 business days expires, who the fuck knows how long the new delay will take.

If nics tells the dealers to hold until 4/9 or longer, if YOU were the dealer looking at a new untested penalty, bc of covid, just what will they do. Who knows fer sure.
The dealers I talked to are going to hold until they get clearance from nics.

There is a post on the silencer thread about a cleared can in a closed shop, and somebody cant get it, yet.

And this morning, there are lines at some grocery stores waiting on the truck to arrive.

Todays reality. Adjust, adapt, deal with it.

BTW, the list of non-essential business closings were advertised yesterday in our daily newspaper in the legal section. The front page blurb said, "the mayor announced x", see the full ordinance in the legal section".

Not too hard to see, read, and understand.

I see more and more shit stirred bc internet bs when people stop getting to KNOW their mayors, councilmen, aldermen, police commissioners, police and fire Chiefs, police and firemen locally, county commissioners, sheriffs, deputies, district supervisors, volunteer firefirefighters, and let their fears take over.

Those people are not our enemy. May not be our friends either, but they are our officials with a duty to us.

Internet bs has given a few people a terminal case of stupid. Life is tough enough, tougher when ..... J. Wayne.

We are an essential business. We have separated and cyberized all we can. Techs no longer come to office, but only come once a week to drop paperwork. Office door locked two girls answering phones and my sons occasionally in out of office. My sons have ordered me "The Boss" to stay home. I'm old and they say I should not be there.

To me it does not feel right to say ok you go to work I'll stay safe at home. I will mostly stay home but I don't want to be that guy either.

The positive is business has not yet crashed. It is a little slow but we are doing better than I thought. I have many people depending on a paycheck. I hope I can keep giving them one. If we close I can maybe give a weeks vacation and maybe two weeks of half pay. But beyond that it is just not sustainable. I hope this goes away quickly.

I’ve got a barreled action in transit and and hoping, full fingers crossed, that it comes through because I can build out the gun and shelter in place on a farm with a range on it and just enjoy myself. Of course, if it’s held up, there’s plenty in the armory to play with.
