I’ve had such bad experiences with Nikon at the commercial side in regard to their refusal to honor their warranties I would go the other option, any other option. Plus Nikon doesn’t appear to have long term interest in maintaining their scope presence so that may increase risk of ownership.

My 2c.

If those are you options, Bushnell. The DMR II can be had here in the PX for under a grand.. shipped. I have two and love them.

That said... at $1200, you are just a few hundred away from a used Vortex Razor HD. Check out the PX and don’t be scared to buy used. Most optics come with a lifetime warranty.

I have a Bushnell DMR and think they are very good scopes. Good glass, tracks well and holds zero. Maybe a little heavy. I do not think you would go wrong with that scope.
do you have any experience with a like-priced scope you can compare the bushnell DMR to? (or what it is better or worse than)

i'm leaning towards new unless i know the person selling. (or has good reputation on the board)
upping the budget means a whole new research :D the DMR is already at the "buy overbudget, so you don't have buyer's remorse" option. besides, the rifles and use is not worthy of such high level of scope.

I second the suggestion for the Bushnell DMR, and Doug @ Cameraland is the guy to call to discuss that option.

I'd also put one of the SWFA SS optics into consideration. The 5-20x would be a solid option, but the 3-15x may very well satisfy your needs and it's less than half your budget. These are not fancy scopes, but they tend to work well.
